Constant hip, leg and bum pain with no outbreak

Hi guys,

I have had HSV2 for 6 years. I have used suppressive medication (acyclovir) on and off during that time and up until now it has controlled my outbreaks well. I have also been able to go long periods without medication and no outbreak.

However, I have recently moved country to the USA and have found I am expriencing completely new symptoms.

For the past couple of months, I have been getting leg and bum pains, which have in the past happened the day before an outbreak. (My outbreaks are unusual - I get one bump/cut which doesn't usually hurt too much) Now though, I have been experiencing pain for about 4 weeks with no outbreak. Every morning the pain is in a different place - one hip, the other leg or sometimes throbbing in my labia. It seems to be worse when I sit down a lot - like driving for a long time.

Today I have very achy hips on the front, where the crease is. I have never had this type of deep muscle ache before and I'm trying to figure out if it is the HSV2 or unrelated. I am taking acyclovir 800mg p/d at the moment, having vitamins and eating and sleeping better than ever before, which is why it seems so strange to me! I feel completely fine in every other way.

Does anyone have any experience like this? Or any ideas what's going on?? I just don't get how my reaction to the HSV could change so much without any obvious triggers. Nothing I'm trying to help the aches and pains is working sad

After dealing with many side effects and progression of this, I ended up reverting back to an older medication Zovirax. It seems to work the best for me taken daily to ward off outbreaks but sometime I do forget to take it or run out and I do pay for that with the sciatic nerve pain and outbreaks. I have used the tennis ball under the hip to relieve the sciatic pain as well as ice and heat packs. I also get the nerve pain in between (gouch) my anus and on my genital sack. Itchy nerve attack or feels like fire ants.... ice packs are my only relief here. Riding the motorcycle or bicycle is impossible during this time..... The outbreaks are rare nowadays, but are the typical itchy spots into small blisters that rupture (itch and hurt like hell) usually on the skin the folds or shrinks and expands (so with the nightly inflation guys get it rips the scabs right open every morning) I use a neosporin first aide cream and try to keep it clean. Also noted that no one seems to talk about is the distinctive smell (stink) I get before an outbreak when urinating and again a different smell during the outbreak from the lesions. I do my best to use a clean washcloth with warm soapy water or disinfectant hand soap. Remember to wash you self carefully and pat it all dry and do not leave washcloth or towels out if you have others using the same bathroom. AND wash hands repeatedly and when done with your bath. Do not touch your face or eyes or brush your teeth until you have sanitized your hands, for fear of cross contaminating anything. I also use saniwipes on the toilet seat when I am done suing the facilities. Seems like a lot of trouble but I have a wife and daughter who are clean and have managed this over 20 years of marriage.
