Constant, odd , 'cold' feeling in throat and roof of mouth...anyone else have this with reflux?

Hi all
For a long time now I have been experiencing the oddest sensation and I am not sure if it is to do with acid reflux. I have a very cold, almost 'minty' sensation in my mouth all the time. it feels like the sensation you have when you breath in after cleaning your teeth, or after sucking a strong mint. My throat and roof of mouth feels cold - not irritated - just cold and tingly.
I have had problems with reflux in the past and have been on proton pump inhibitors. I am not on a prescription at the moment. i have had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with acute gastritis about ten years ago. I often get heartburn and indigestion.
I have mentioned this top my GP who looks at me like I am mad and says he has never heard of it.
However, I am not imagining it, and wondered if this odd symptom was shared by anyone else with reflux.
I am a lady of a 'certain age' .........and I have read on the net that this odd sensory change could have something to do with hormonal changes at menopause. Just trying to rule everything out, so would be grateful for any input.
Thanks

I have the exact same thing and no one seems to have heard about it. Is your feeling also tender/sore, while cold and "icy"?
Have anyone figured out what it is about? Has some similar sensation like 5 years ago accompanied by a weird taste, but it went away on its own after a few weeks. This has lasted 3 weeks now and its very annoying. Did have a cold some days before it started, but this dosent feel like a regular sore throat at all and I'm all good from the cold..

I've had this for years. In my case it is due to silent reflux, but you can get this from gerd as well. What happens is pepsin finds it's way up to the throat and causes the menthol feeling. It can irritate the cheeks, roof of mouth, sinuses (I have chronic sinusitis because of it), it can even cause asthma symptoms.
If you want to test and see if this is the cause of your menthol sensation, you can buy gaviscon advance, or even just gaviscon tablets and take the max dose. (Just get the ones that have another tast then mint) The minty sensation will dissapear in 5-10 minutes if you have silent reflux or reflux causing your symptoms. Hope this helps.

Forgot another important thing. Do not wear anything that is tight around the stomach. This will also cause symptoms because of the pressure on your stomach pressing on your valve.

I've looked at this forum a few times, trying to find a solution. I have been having strange sensation in my nose, throat and mouth for under a year now. It just started off in my nasal passages like I was inhaling menthol, then it has progressed to back of my throat and when it's particularly bad it can make my lips tingle and even my eyes water. It's not constant. I have patches where I don't seem to have it, but it comes upon me regularly. Strange thing is for most of my life I've usually had a blocked stuffy nose, but the menthol feeling makes me breathe easily nowadays. It comes over me anytime, anywhere. No rhyme or reason I can work out. I don't have any digestive issues, heartburn or anything. I consulted doctor who is puzzled and doesn't think anything to worry about after blood tests and examining my nose and throat, but let me try acid blockers just in case it was acid reflux. They didn't help at all, if anything it made the symptoms worse after a month.
I am relatively healthy, not on medication for anything and 45 and female. I've never had anything like this before. Symptoms started 4 to 5 months after my last covid booster, so it can't be vaccination side effect. As far as I'm aware I hadn't had covid when these strange feelings started as I'd been well, not even had a cold for a few years. Asked Dr if it could be pre menopausal, she didn't think so. I'm trying to get referred to the hospital to Ear Nose and Throat clinic but getting to talk to Dr to arrange it is a nightmare. It gets disconcerting as I was hoping these strange feelings would have gone away by now and I want to understand what is causing it. I've not met anyone else with the same symptoms either.
