Cramps and Sickness

Ìve had IBS for many years but recently I keep

getting stomach cramps and feeling really sick.

Does anyone else get this ?Anyone know if it's due

to being hungry or is it something you've eaten ?

Stomach cramps and nausea are IBS symptoms. When I have had a very bad IBS flare up, the pain can make me feel sick.

I've had this every day now for at least 5 weeks .

I have IBS but never had anything like this before , my appetite

Is affected too , I only want crisps or a banana , something dry and

      only small amounts.

Food can seem very unappetising when you are having an IBS flare up.  My first flare up lasted three and a half months  and I had symptoms every day.  IBS symptoms can change for better or worse.  Food or stress can set it off and every flare up can be different.  Try an antispasmodic or nurofen.  Continue to eat small amounts of bland foods until the flare up subsides.

Agree wholeheartedly. When I was last ill a few weeks on the Sunday. It started morning, sickness midday and I did not eat until lunchtime the following day as just felt out of sorts.

Not sure I could manage that but may benefit others'. I normally drink peppermint tea but I was away so had to stick with water but not as successful but on the day I was ill I tried a cereal with milk and just made matters worse yet had the same cereal today and wolfed down in minutes. Hard to imagine how different everything was yesterday. Everything was a real struggle especially the cereal.

Peppermint tea gives me heartburn.  My IBS has been very quiet of late but my acid reflux is constant and I am taking Gaviscon and milk on a daily basis. IBS is so unpredictable.

Agree nasty stuff peppermint I have diarrhoea terribly if I have it. When my IBS is as bad as yours I have very little to eat except ginger, then it eases off!

I have always found peppermint tea soothing but if one thing I have learnt here is that there is no one size fits all

I had heartburn through the night and had to take Gaviscon. Luckily, I haven’t had any today.

    Hello Linda

It all depends where the pain in your tummy is, Could it be something you feel is unusual.

It could be constipation or loose stools, or something you have eaten.

All I can suggest is pop down to the chemist tomorrow and see if they can suggest something, In the UK we are in the midst of Easter and Surgeries will not be open until Thursday.

If it really gets nasty call NHS Information Line on Tel 111, explain to them how you feel they will advise 24/7
