Cramps and Sickness

Ìve had IBS for many years but recently I keep

getting stomach cramps and feeling really sick.

Does anyone else get this ?Anyone know if it's due

to being hungry or is it something you've eaten ?

    Hi Linda,

I suffer horrendous nausea with suspected IBS along with very loose stools. I've had this for years and still can't work out what food causes it.

I'm on ondansetron anti sickness tablets which i only take on really bad flare ups.

I know the usual IBS symptoms are like stomach cramps, bloating etc. Which I get none of but apparently nausea is one too!

Sometimes when I eat when feeling sick it helps or makes it worse sad

All I could recommend is some ginger tea to help settle your stomach. That's what I do.

    Hope you feel better.

      Hi Elle

Do you get your ondansetron from your doctor ?

I have been given them in hospital and the do help but my

GP said she can't prescribe them .

      Thanks

      Hi,

Yes the hospital prescribed me then when I was admitted one time and my GP continues to supply them if need be.

No other anti sickness tablet helps me apart from this. If you seemed given them before you would hope the GP would prescribe again. Could you maybe visit another GP within the surgery and explain their the only sickness tablets that help.

      Good luck!

Sorry, should have said if you were given them before *

      Not if you seemed!

Hi Linda, i know when I'm anxious it sets my IBS and diverticulosis off, the pain knocks me for 6 some days. I take ginger and very often, especially during a flare-up.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

But when I post on this subject I do get some, only a few, comments which state that is not an IBS symptom

In that case should have been at mine 2 weeks ago. This is not an uncommon symptom for me but goes with an attack/flare up call it what you will. I am never sick just on its own and always after the attack. I am used it now but still frustrating.

Try going in the low FODMAP diet, it will help weed out foods you may have a problem with. The symptoms you describe sound like IBS and the diet is particularly helpful in a lot of cases.
