cured of threadworms after two years

My daughter contracted threadworms and then passed them on to me. after two years of a living nightmare i was at my wits end thouroghly depressed ,borderline pyschotic!!. We had at least twenty five doses of mebondazole, spent two hundred pounds on an anti parasite course along with the usual remedies of raw garlic, tumeric etc all to no avail. We seen numerous doctors who kept telling us that we didnt have worms even though they were visable in our stools and the itching was driving us insane. Eventually we tracked down a specialist in great ormand street who is one of the best in the world and agreed to see us as private patients a swe couldnt be referred through our doctors as we live in south wales. we were prescribed albondazole four hundred millligrams for three months and two hundred for my daughter. we got the medication from harley street in london where it had to be brought in from abroad. one dose case them but we stayed on it for three months in case of re auto infection and guess what...weve never had them since! this was last july and i can say that this doctor is incredible and worth every penny. he has cured every patient he has seen so please let me know if anyone wants anymore details.

hi Kate, how did you contact Dr Novelli. Does he only treat children.

    Hi Kate

I was so relieved to see your post and was wondering how you and your daughter are now several months on. My son and I have been ill with this for nearly 3 years and nothing has helped at all. Following your advice we now have a private referral sent to Dr Novelli and we are waiting to get an appointment. I feel like he is a final 'light at the end of the tunnel' and am hoping that he is able to make us better. My son is reasonably happy, go lucky and doesn't fully inderstand what is happening. I have tried to protect him from it all. I had bad memories as a child myself. I have been so unwell for 3 years. I have lost weight and I look and feel awful.

Is there any way we could speak on the phone as I have a few ques before seeing the dr?

    Many thanks for your help

Hi, I've had this for the last 6 years now and it only seams to get worse. I've been up to seen a professor at the tropical hospital London 4 times now..at first I though I never got rid them but now I understand that I must get reinfected somehow?? !! None of my family have ever had them, husband and two children..strange! We don't have any pets and my house is very tidy and clean. I don't really eat much sweet stuff and I keep very fit. I feel very helpless at the moment. I've got yet another appointment with him in a month time, don't know what he's going to say.. I don't understand how I can get them back time after time? I wash my hands and clean like I'm paranoid! It's awful!

      Help!

Hi Kate, I'm sorry anyone has this problem, but am so glad i'm not alone. My daughter and i have been infested. I knew something was in my sinuses, then my left ear started aching and bleeding. I was in denial even though i was researching. Then i got the wiggle in the bottom. I freaked! Started giving myself enemas 6 times a day. We went to the doctor. And same as everyone else he said we didnt have it but wrote script for pin x. I know its threadworms but am seeing different varieties of parasites.  Are they all the same family? And if not, how did we get infected with more than one kind? We took the Pin x. 1 week later, they were back. I swear these things are airborn in my house. I already have enough medical problems with ulcers, hernias and depression. These things are gonna take me down. My daughter has Down Syndrome but very healthy. She acts like they dont bother her much. But I'm a basket case. I cussed the doctor all the way home for being stupid. He said our nose and ears were allergies. I cant live like this. I dont know how some of you have gone so long with this in your life. I wont make it. I already feel I'm losing my mind. No matter how much i clean, i see them on furniture and so forth. How did this happen? How am i gonna get rid of them?  Crazy in South Carolina!

    Hi Kate

Thank you for leaving this message to help others. Myself and my daughter are and have been going through the same issues for more than 2 years. And have been treated like neurotic time waisters by the medical profession. Could you please send me the contact details for your specialist as we deperately need some help with this problem. I am pleased that you have resolved your  issue and hope you are still free of this parasite.

    Kind regards

    Maria
