Day 2 after TLHR

Good morning,

Well yesterday was a mixed bag. After a painful first night I felt better , nurse helped me wash and dress and physio got me up to walk around...and I could per in the loo rather than bed pan which is great ! Downfall , I had so much pain relief the night before that I vomitted and stomach contents out so just had some toast last night. Much better night as I actually slept and only some discomfort no pain ...operated leg feels like a block of led lol....I've just remembered I ordered pancakes for breakfast so am looking forward to that ...

    Morning pennypops,

I was so dry all day after op it literally took 12 hours to eat 2 pieces of toast, I just needed drink. Enjoy your pancakes hopefully today you can start to feel a little bit more normal.

Went through the exact same thing after my RTHR :-) I was in for 3 nights because of it, but didn't mind that at all.

Good luck, look forward to hearing about your progress!

Yay Pennypops! You are on your way! Only healing to be done now.

That dreaded nausea is hard to take. Happened to me too. Our hospital food looked so good but I could stomach it.

But now you are over the worst of it.

Congratulations on the op being over and done.

    Enjoy your Flapjacks!! ♡

I had the most awful nausea and kept throwing up even though I was pretty well empty. The staff kept saying I must eat and forced toast and marmalade on me. I think it was a reaction to the morphine in my case.

Oh I remember those first days, so much going on, so many new feelings ... going to the loo becomes an event ........... pain relief, discomfort without that OA pain, and leg feeling like a block of concrete is attached.

I am hoping that I am wrong, but I think my other hip is now headed the same way as my left ... it;s hurting like mad all day now ......... I think I have OA in the right leg now.sad Seeing my new surgeon next month, I hope he will take on my new problems.

That's the thing though , eventually you know you have to do it all again with other hip....worse thing at the moment is I can't sleep....no way can I sleep on my back ! So I'm just lying there trying not to disturb my husband...I gotta say the pain is not as bad as knee replacement !! I just want to get on with my life pain free ..

      Hi pennypops.

My hubby moved into another room to give me space. Got pillows at the sides and between legs, it helps surrounding your self with pillows.

As a confirmed side sleeper it was horrible on the back, woke several times but it does get a little easier managed for 8 weeks when I decided to try non operated side. I did not want to rush things as I do not want to damage the hip.

You are very early days, It will get easier pennypops.

Oddly, I feel much better sleeping on my back .... also, the pain stops as soon as I sit down, so getting on my pushbike is great for keeping up the weight loss exercise regime.

Like Jen86183 I moved into the spare room when I was at my worst to let my wife get some sleep.

Seen my surgeon today, and the good news is that my hips are fine, the bad news is I have a bulging disc which is pinching nerves.  So it's off to my osteopath to get that sorted out now.
