Day 23of taking sertraline

Posted , 8 users are following.

Today I feel very weak and tired, still very anxious and low mood, the sickness isn’t as bad just in a morning. No motivation everything is an effort. Are other people on this site feeling like this.

I know it can take up to 6-8 weeks. I would maybe talk to your doctor. Side effects can linger.

I felt like this and didn’t start to see any real improvement until 4 weeks.  I have been on them for 33 days and still have anxiety and exhaustion.  The anxiety is better than it was in the beginning,  but I am not yet back to my old self.  It can take 6-8 weeks to fully kick in,  so I am waiting until then before I make any decisions on increasing.

Yes exactly the same sorry to say. Last week (week 4) I was starting to feel in the mend but the last 4 days I haven't got the motivation to even get out of bed. The awful dark thoughts have gone but now I feel like I'm sort of half here and half not, if that makes sense. I will probably write a post about it seeking reassurance about this. Hope you feel better soon .

It took me 8 weeks + to feel the full benefit of sertraline and for the side effects to go. Extreme tiredness and nausea. I’ve Been on it for 9 months now and occasionally I still get one or two creeping through. Eg ringing in my ears, flushing. But I can cope with them.

Feel the best I’ve felt in a long time. Hope it lasts

Hang on in there, I’m sure things will settle down for you.

This is so encouraging to read ~ thank you for posting. I'm about 5 weeks in on 50mg and was feeling a bit better last week but this week have felt awful like I'm living in a disconnected reality. I pray every day that I'm going to feel better x

Are you going to stick it out for 8 weeks,  Maria?  I have been feeling the same and I am trying to find the post where someone talks about this blip.  Going to my doctors today to do my one month review and hoping to not have to increase.  I will let you know what he says. <3

Yes I'm going to stick it out because compared to how I was 5 weeks ago I can see improvement. I'm positive enough to see it as a blip. I have seen other posts about this and everyone says stuck it out and because I'm on 50mg and was so low with suicidal thoughts every morning I'm going to give it longer to work because it's got more to fix in my seratonin levels. X

Hello Julie, glad to hear your doing so well, rare to see posts from those who have been on it longer than the initial start up... so its encouraging to read.

If you don’t mind me asking what dosage became your therapeutic level??

      Hi Uk Rose.

i like to keep posting on here for other to read, because when I started on sertraline I needed advice and hope from other that had come through the other end.

i take it for health anxiety and with being highly sensitive to medication, I’m still on 25mg and that seems to be enough to keep me calm.

I think doctor up doses to quickly and it doesn’t give it time to settle in our systems, yes it does cause anxiety to heighten in the early stages of taking it and there for, we are told to up it,

give it time, I nearly upped my dose, because I was feeling more anxious but I didn’t in the end.

Yes some need a higher dose than others, but give it chance to settle first,

      hope this helps you.

      good luck x

Brilliant advice Julie, its fantastic to hear your managing so well on such a low dose.

I agree, doctors are so insistent to icreases you threw the levels because your havnt seen progress in 12minutes!! Lol

My doctor also wanted to increase me to 100mg, but I dont feel ready yet... I want to wait and see what 50mg has to offer me first, and if I increase it will be by quater dosages. I agree alot of this should be down to what you feel comfortable with and what you want to handle.

Slow and steady for me... 🌹

Glad I’ve been of some help.

You are doing right little at a time to see what dose suits you.

Don’t worry if you up your dose even a little you may get some of your side effects back, but when it settles at that dose once again they will go.

Hopefully you will be ok on what your on. Please keep me posted on how you are doing 🌷

Doctors appointment went well.  He didn’t seem concerned and was glad that I had some improvements.  Going to go back in a month to review again.  Also suggested that I do some strengthen exercises as well as my walking.  He said I’ll get more benefit from exercise that pushes me instead of just walking alone.
