    Hi Karen

I wouldn't say I was in agony, but did realise when I took the dressing off as instructed on day 6 that a great deal of my pain was from the would sticking to the dressing and pulling every time I moved.

As perverse as it sounds, movement will help with your healing so take plenty of pain killers - ask your gp if you need something stronger - and keep doing the exercises and walking as much as possible.

Hope it comes right soon xx

    Hi Karen,,

You're doing fine! I was reminded that yes, this hip replacement operation is common, but its still a MAJOR operation! We go through a right old mauling, don't we.

    Good luck with your recovery.

Same here! I lost track of what I'd had in hospital because I kept falling asleep due to the medication so have got back on top of things at home. I saw the pain team this morning before I left and they told me to keep up all the very strong opiate medications at a high level for the next week and then reduce as I see fit. They increased the strength of my night time medication too because as I have now experienced and had of course read on this forum night time seems to be the hardest.

So, best wishes to you over the coming days and nights, hope things improve, look forward to hearing your progress and improvements.
