Day 6

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi everyone. Just need some reassurance I guess, currently on day 6 of taking 25mg of sertraline.

Struggled through side effects: sore head, sickness, pins and needles, increased anxietyand panic attacks and just need to read that it gets better.

The majority of side effects have lifted now but the anxiety is horrendous and I'm suffering multiple panic attacks throughout the day.

I'm feeling quite down about it.

If anyone out there can give me some peace of mind id be really grateful.

Thanks

Hey, don't give up, I was exactly the same. I ended up being signed off for 2 weeks until it started to get better. By 3 weeks I was well enough to go back and the panic attacks stopped. I'm now about 9 weeks and so much better. It really is worth it Hun so please stick with it. Can you get some time off to help? Xx

Thanks for your reply Suzie. It's really nice to read that it will get better.

I am currently signed off so I don't need to worry about work at all which is great. The panic attacks are terrifying though and having multiple ones per day at the moment makes me question whether this is right for me. I swear I'm going crazy half of the time 😔 X

My sex drive just completely died when I started taking these pills but I feel like I'm in a better mood during the day! The main side effect I get is sleepiness and maybe a little outta it but by the time I wake up I feel normal again!

It does get better as time goes on. I'm on 9 weeks now and have had some good days, although I'm still having those bad days with intrusive thoughts. I'm probably one of the unlucky ones that takes forever for it to fully work on. Keep at it

Thanks Vanessa it's great to know that things get better. I'm in that rut of worrying it won't get better at all! Silly really. But that's the anxiety

      Hi

I'm on day 12 of sertralin I have noticed a big difference in depression & anxiety but still having intrusive thoughts do you think they will go ?

From most stories I've read Katy people do so well on sertraline. That's what I'm holding on to. They do say though it takes about 6-8 weeks to notice major improvements but it differs for everyone.

You're still in week number two so stay positive!! Keep going!

I hope they will. My intrusive thoughts are very scary and I think it's taking longer because I'm dwelling on why I would have such a horrible thing enter my mind. Any day I feel semi good, I think I'm strong enough to tackle the question of why and that brings me back into a spiral. Then I go beyond that and think, what if I don't just have anxiety but I have a much more severe mental ilness. It's a vicious cycle in the brain. It's a process and it takes an enormous amount of strength to not dwell on those thoughts. I'm sure you'll do fine

Aww thankyou, yes I have seen the benefits of sertralin just desperately want to be the old me,but understand it's going to take time, hope you feel good aswell soon it's a horrible place to be in x

I think for me it's the intrusive thoughts that are the worst part of this so i understand how you feel,I'm the same keep going over the thought all the time, then thinking there is more to it then just anxiety.

I know exactly what you mean. Keep in touch, it's good to actually be in contact with others who have those thoughts.

Yes that would be nice to keep in contact,it's a very lonely illness to have because it's in your head it's so hard for people to understand

Aww thanks I keep reading that it takes a few weeks when I do feel good I see the benefits of taking it,but then I get a bit down and instantly think there's something wrong it's just hard

Hi,I too am struggling with intrusive thoughts the other symptoms have got better, getting really worried these won't go

I still get unwanted thoughts but i feel that facing them and handling them without drugs will be the best option. Once you face the fears or issues then take the pills to help with recovery because they won't help fix what's wrong but they will help when you're ready to recover.. When you're finally ready to be back to normal use the pills to help get you there then when you're ready but it won't fix your problems only help you handle them so it's best to keep working at whatever is making you anxious or depressed or whatever 😳
