Please can someone clarify for me is DDD the same as Osteoarthritis? My GP tells me it isn't 

despite me having DDD and 2 herniated disc he refuses to refer me to rheumatologist. Sending me to pain clinic for epidural injections and physio. 

I have had years of back pain now affecting knees and heels hard to weight bear and constant night pain and morning stiffness. How can I get a referral without GP. No other doctor in practice 

please help

    Keep in mind that injections to relieve pain can only be done on a limited basis. Due to the medicine used it can cause more damage if its used too often. Also keep in mind that in the US they are doing fewer injections because of the number of incidents where the needle punctures the liner that covers the spinal chord - it can cause severe damage.

    Im not saying dont try them - if they help thats great and if they dont help then you will know. I never had any luck with them but when in pain I'll try just about anything.

    Thanks John,

    as a veteran of pain, is there anything you would suggest.  Hard work to get back into shape doesn't worry me but I don't stand any chance of that in this level of pain.  Morphine works until I try sleeping then the burn truly deepens. Both in my back and down my leg.  I'm waking up screaming.  I've done it all from hot and cold to exercising gently through the pain - all that did was tire me quickly and I fell over in a mobility shop lol
