Depo shot causing vaginal dryness????

Posted , 6 users are following.

Ive been having a lot of vaginal discomfort for about 2 months now. Been on depo for a year, had and iud placed then removed. Had bv took antibiotics but i still feel a discomforting feeling on my vulva and its to the point that im going crazy! Is it possible the depo is causing vaginal dryness? Sex sometimes hurts sometimes im okay but not 100%. We use lube and it seems to dry up pretty fast, never really had this problem before. I've had 2 pelvic exams done. 1st one i was a bit red ( had BV but she didn't see it upon pelvic exam), then the other she didn't see anything wrong. I mention low estrogen levels but no one said anything sad im tired of dealing with this! It doesnt hurt to pee but i have this urgency or fullness, not like a uti (have had 4 just this year.)  I go Jan. to see gynecologist hopefully she can help me. I just want to feel normal again and be able to enjoy things!

I too am going absolutely crazy,  I never ever feel normal.  I have NO discharge at all.  I am only in my thirties and i have been married 8 years, i feel like i cannot have sex as I am in so much pain, last time i was sore for days after (I know i need to use lube), i have seen doctors (i had severe severe thrush a year ago that was not pleasant, along with UTI and a reaction to trimethoprim), so have seen the gynecologist twice, they took a lump off my cervix but other than that said i look very healthy!! So why so much pain?  The more I read about the deppo the more I want to stop it.  I have no idea where I am or whats going on with my body its consuming my life!  Also had every test done (not really necesary but there you go), all that came back was bacteria infection (thrush), and strep B.  eugh sad

All that came back for me was BV on a test swab. She did several pelvic exams and never seen anything off except I was really red one time. No std or infections the last time. It has gotten better but sex still hurts sometimes and I have a constant urethral discomfort. I did stop using Scott’s toilet paper and surprisingly my vuvla isn’t irritated anymore only sometimes. I got Monday to the gyno maybe they will figure this out for all of us.

    Hi Swampert,

I have the exact same symptoms as you down to the watery discharge. I was given lupron depot 8 months ago for only 3 months and still struggle with pain, dryness and constant discomfort as well as bv and yeast infections I'm curious as to weather the gyno said this condition is curable and will go away. I stopped lupron 5 months ago and only continue to get worse Upon reading everyones response, no one mentioned if they were on any type of add back therapy which I understand is necessary if you are on it for longer than 6 months to add a small amount of estrogen back. I am aware that vaginal atrophy is not listed in The side effects but vaginitis is. I almost wonder if the lupron we received is too potent or has something wrong with it seeing that we all have similar symptoms. I received one shot that was supposted to last 3 months. Please keep us posted on your progress and good luck!
