Diagnosed with genital herpes and I need people to talk to

Yeah so I was diagnosed last week still going through my first outbreak it's not been as bad as people say I could always walk didn't really hurt unless wee got into the sores!

All I'm feeling is miserable, I feel like I'm going to feel depressed forever! Do you ever get over the depression?

The only reason I haven't killed myself is because of my mom and dad I want children soon and I just am scared I'll be depressed as a mother!

Any good stories to lift a girls mood?

It's so annoying because it's one of those things where you just think will never happen to you!

Your supportive replies to each other are awesome.I do believe that one stands back a bit more and perhaps doesn't take ones health for granted. We all tend to think ( especially when we're young! ) that unpleasant medical things happen to other people but not us. It's the beginnings of a road of not taking your health for granted. Herpes does not have to rule your life. Yes, even I use to say, thank goodness it's "down there" and nobody knows. Just look after your general health and don't get run down. When you do have an outbreak, take a course of acyclovir then get on with your life. Be responsible to your partners. Any partner wanting to be in your life will understand and not love you any less, I know this from experience.

      Thank you so much!!

I think when I first got diagnosed I had no one like you or Erin telling me like 'hey stuff happens but I'm alright and so will you be' I think I needed that!

      I'm doing good

But you know what my biggest upset is now (and I'm laughing at myself considering a few days ago I wanted to die)

But my biggest upset is that I can't drink alcohol because everyone is telling me it will cause an outbreak

But this girls loves a little drink

      Hope you're doing well xx

I always enjoyed a glass of wine. The thing is, keep it in moderation.

Don't be scared. Enjoy it and relax. If there is one thing that you don't need, its stress.
