hi I am new to this site and feel I need to talk to other ladies who may have had similar experiences. I am 5 weeks post anterior and posterior prolapse  I still have slight discharge which makes me itchy and sore though I wonder if this is part of the healing process. I need to keep taking painkillers   I take two Senna at night and the next day (early evening) I know I need to open my bowels but it can hurt abit but sometimes I can be waiting an hour and a quarter for my bowels to be open I dearnt strain as scared of my stitches so have to wait  I find its what it all does to you mentally as well as the physical side. I am off work and miss driving and walking my dog, going to the gym and in the house a lot but can't clean up    My hubby works kids grown up and gave their life's   I just wondered if anyone else felt the same or having similar problems with any advice as you can feel isolated

I think you can have salt baths there seems to be different opinions on it all my sitz bath and pain killers relieve the irritation I keep thinking I have thrush then it settles down again it must be the healing process

Hi Dianne I have just started to be woken by pain from stitches healing in the night, so uncomfortable as they start healing. I am 2 weeks post op. My spec suggested I try and manage with less tablets during the day and take them further apart so I can take one at 11 and another at 4am. tried it last night and it was better. I actually slept through til 5 then took tablet. So this is what he suggested take neurophen when I wake say 8am, then neuphen at 2pm & 8pm. ( only 6 max per day). Panadol at around 10 or 11am , then  again at 5pm, then 11 and then 4am. During the day if the pain or area was uncomfortable use the ice /heat packs to manage and always pop ice pack down there last thing at night. Hope this helps. Of course I am not a medic and if you are allerrgic or on other prescribed pain kilers please ignore my advice and do as your specialist tells you. Its hard to keep your mind occupied when your body isn't - drives me stir crazy and very teary at times. But I know with rest and help I will get there in the end.

Thx for that Tilley yes my spec told me take painkillers every two hours between 2 paracetamol and 2 Ibrufen  my BM's are giving me lots of problems took me hours to get over one last night not sue 2 Senna are enough for me  I worry I do myself damage and so sore just inside my vagina this morning feels like thrush  the painkillers do seem to take the worse of the pain off so am hoping it is just the healing process   Seeing my spec on 17th March X

      Hi Diane

I am 12 weeks post op now but have had problems re BMs ! I was on Senna but spoke to my GP who prescribed a mixture of Movicol and docusate. Worked much better and you can self dose yourself on the docusate to between 1 and 5 a day so you can get the right balance for you. So I take a Movicol in the morning and then between and 1 and 2 docusate a day.

Obviously thrush is an issue after this surgery but I can remember wondering if I had it 2 or 3 times during the the first 6 weeks but I think it is just all the healing and tightening of stitches. Also my consultant did say that they use 2 types and one of them can irritate a bit ! The joys hey.

Ok thx for that Bunky, I feel the BM's really set me back I seem better if I gave bran flakes in the morning (leave BM's til the eves) but don't want cereal every day I am going out early this evening just to sit and watch a show and getting in a state has I have to allow an hour some times as dearnt strain    This was the problem before the op! I have brought a juicer as I wondered if fruit would help. How r u doing? X
