diarrhea almost every day for 3 years?

For the past 3 years I have been having some problems with my stomach. I have been having diarrhea every day multiple times to every other day. It is mainly triggered if I eat anything or do something simple like taking a walk or going outside. A lot of times when I eat, my stomach will get a lot of pain and I will have diarrhea in the middle of eating or shortly after. When it first started, it only happened occasionally, but lately, I have been having diarrhea several times a day. It might sound strange, but I noticed when the weather is bad outside, like cold or rainy, it will make my symptoms worse. Rarely, I won't have diarrhea for 1-2 days and I consider it a miracle. It really is stressful and sad since if I go anywhere, I have to immediately search for the nearest bathroom to feel safe. I can't go out to eat somewhere since I will always have diarrhea and it's embarrasing to always leave every time during the meal. Sometimes I can't barely even eat a few bites of food at home before I have to go to the bathroom.

I heard it's not normal to have diarrhea so much, so it really worries me. I love walking outside and even jogging, but I'm terrified do those things because I know something can go wrong with my stomach. I've been taking a medicine called metamucil. It does help a little, but not nearly as much as I need it too. I talked to my doctor about my problem and he recommended I get a Endoscopy, so I've been waiting a while for the hospital to respond. It is driving me crazy having to wait so long since I wish this problem could get fixed and I could have a clear diagnoses of what's wrong with me. I am really scared and worried. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or opinions to what could be wrong with me since I've been trying to figure it out for years. I have been wondering if I could have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) since a lot of my symptoms sound similar, but I'm not sure. Also I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of Endoscopy I would need. Do you think I would need a Colonoscope   inserted through the anus to examine the colon (bowel) or a Gastroscope, inserted down the throat to the oesophagus to examine the stomach. I just really want to know if the camera will be going through my mouth or anus and is the problem could be with my colon, bowls, stomach, or digestion.

FYI: I am sending another reply because it is getting approved and this time it's without cuss. You have diahrrea every day you say? Do you squat on the toilet? It's possible that if you sit on the toilet then it will be blocked, and then sitting on the toilet for like 3 years will make like a large amount of fluid burst out of your butt. If you don't want to squat, just get a stool and then put it on your legs. Don't put your butt on the toilet as well.

I know this post is over a year old but ive been suffering with stomach problems for 10 years now so if you like me time doesn't really matter. I've have colonoscopies, endoscopes, sonograms, HIDA scans, exploratory surgery and any other test you can think of. I found out literally two things from all of this which was i had ovarian cysts and white blood cells and histocytes in my pelvis. If you don't know much about the medical field wbc's and histocytes can be released during an allergic reaction and also occur as a result of inflammation. I went to an allergist and got skin tests for food allergies which is more accurate than blood tests and found out I had a ton of food allergies (after ten years of suffering) I was allergic to soybeans and a lot of other foods but that seemed to be the cause of most of my stomach problems because within minutes to an hour after eating I would have the runs so bad the pain was horrible it actually felt better to hold it in than to go and sometimes it would come out but then the rest would stay in like I felt like I was giving birth out my butt at how hard I would have to push for the rest of the diarrhea to come out. I am still not 100% with my stomach problems but cutting out my food allergies had helped me a lot and as for right now I am starting to relapse stomach wise I've been having my constipated diarrhea for 5 days straight now and no probiotic seems to help so I guess it's back to the drawing board yet again. It's just so frustrating thinking I'm finally ok but no matter what it always comes back worse.

I had the exact same problem as you.  I had both a colonoscope & Endoscopy only to be told I had IBS that isn't curable.  But the doctor gave me medicine called Budesonide 3MG and it worked.  It gave me the confidence to be able to go places again and to exercise again.  I drive an hour each way to and from work and it was so scary at times.  I take the medicine and when I feel ok I can get off the medine for about a month and a half and it will start up again.  So I am back on the medicine again.  But it's worth it not to worry.  As of now I have quit drinking coffee as a last resort to not having to take the medicine full time. It hasn't been enough time to know if that is working.  It's killing me not to have caffine.  But I'm to the point I will try anything.  Hope this helps.

    Hello Tigerbolt and others,

Wanted to share my experience and hopefully share a solution for some of you that worked for me.

Reading your comments brings back painful memories for me, as once I was like most of you.

My diarrhoea began in my adolescence and continued well into my late 20s before I found a solution.

Regular bowel movements were few and far between. Multiple rushes to the toilet, including explosive diarrhoea. Had endoscopy, colonoscopy and I had Chron's like symptoms

    but that was ruled out.

I used metamucil with mixed results early on.

Anyway, I've been able to successfully control my diarrhoea 90% of the time by:

Eating 70% + dark chocolate (weirdly simple, but hear me out). It might sound a bit hippy, but I happened upon this when I visited Japan

and was regularly drinking green tea and noticed a noticeable reduction in diarrhoea during my trip. Research led me to the antioxidants

in the tea and when I spoke to my dad about this, he mentioned he had issues and dark chocolate worked for him.

So yeah, a couple of squares each night from a block that's 70% + coco. P. S. I hate dark chocolate. Started working within a few days.

Also, I needed more fibre in my diet, so I now include one banana pretty much every day.

And I've worked out some of the naughty things that don't help, which for me unfortunately is coffee, milk and MacDonald's.

Fatty foods can also cause issues.

My dad also mentioned red wine, so try that, it might work for you, but turn you into an alcoholic. smile

Good luck everyone, hope I might have helped some of you.

I know this post is years old, but hopefully still active. just wanted to share my story. This problem began for me when I was 18 years old in college and still continues to this day. I'll be 37 in March. Ive seen specialists all over the place, you name the test it has been done 3 times, meds, diets. some tests come back as "off" but never anything real difinitive, which is very frustrating to say the least. you know something is very wrong, but dont know what to call it. I guess the catch all is IBS. My pancreas levels are off as well and pancreatitus runs in the family, but still no clear cut diagnosis. I had one specialist actually accuse me of "faking" or saying im nuts. anyway I struggled through college, and went to work and fought through that for 10 years or better. finally at 31 my body was giving up. could never keep weight on, and lost all the time. rectal bleeding, torturous pain, no appetite, constant anxiety and depression from the illness, and the weakened ammune system opened me up for one problem after the next, phnumonia, plurisy, etc and then I was hospitalized and taken out of work. I was on TPN for a year, which means all my "food" was given by a PICC line. daily visiting nurses, the whole deal. I was in bad shape, still am but "stable" if you want to call it that. At some point in the last few years I have pretty much given up on doctors and meds and have resigned myself to the fact that I will deal with this for however long I live. Not able to hold a job, enjoy many daily activities and have a normal life. It really is so bad you get scared to leave the house or go out in public, your family suffers for it too. its terrible and I feel all of your pain.  this is the very very short version of what Ive gone through in this illness. I wish you all luck in getting better, but for those of you just starting this, I hate to say it may be a lifelong road ahead. try to stay positive and enjoy the good days the best you can, try to live your lives as happy as possible. This is truly one of those things I dont wish on anyone.

Hey tigerbolt your symptoms are not same as mine.. But i do have loose stool since 1 year. I just took loperamide medicine that helped me a lot to improve my stool. I was also not able to drink milk, but i can. Im still on that medicine and it is showing its results, seriously. I just want to say try it once and i think it will work on you too as it worked on me. Thank you 😁

I myself have had diarrhea my whole life and its mainly because of lactose intolerance, and because I don't eat the right foods everyday.

Though I can't live without those foods I love.

So I am stuck with taking tums for the rest of my life pretty much.

Anyways, I once heard from some guy who needed to be checked out in the hospital for a possible cancer down there, he said if he didn't go in to get it done he would of died. He said "just get it done, get it overwith". Luckily, I haven't needed to.

Hi Tiger, I have been farting my bum hole off for the past 10 years. I have diarrea at least 3-5 times a day, because ill never give up the foods I love. Anyways, I am sure there is a cure out there, hopefully I will find it one day. Until then, I'll be farting myself through life, probably until I turn 90. Cheers to ice cream and cheese. Amen.

What's the most potent Probiotics? I been dealing with this problem for so long, I barely eat and is afraid to eat because of diarrhea. I'm having anxieties when I enter a store or restaurant. Sad to say that when I go somewhere I know where all the restrooms are at. I been to the doctor and had a colonoscopy but they keep saying nothing is wrong with me. Anyone got any suggestions.

I always knew this was a problem for me. I know that I am lactose intolerant. But even if i eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich now i still get diarrea, or just even 3 doughnuts. I have to be careful to eat the right foods at work, to prepare for an 8 hour shift, or else you know what. All i have to blame is L-Intolerance, and its been a problem for my whole life. I still drink milk once in awhile, and too much gets me feeling this way, so I can confirm that it probably is L-Intolerance.
