My GP is very reculant to give me Valium when I know I need it when I am very low to stop a panic attack I have 10 tablets left and GP says she won't give me anymore.

I am worried how I'll be without them when I am very low and I've told my GP this and she just says to me try self help ... it's not that easy

What else are you taking? Have u tried anti depressants to control ur panic beta blockers are good to

I can't take anti depressants as i have a very bad reaction called serotonin syndrome and the ones that aren't SSRI make me feel worse and very bad side effects.

Beta blockers I've tried in the past with no luck they don't do anything to help with panic.

I'm only on Valium ATM prescribed by my GP and sleeping when I need them again given to me by my GP

I don't know if this will help you, but I have decided to come off my Lorazepam. With some success since lasy Thursday. I obviously don't know your circumstances but I can tell you that I feel a sense of freedom which feels good. Not being a slave to the meds! Have you thought about coming off slowly. You could ask your GP for a weaning program. Just a thought smile

How long have you been prescribed diazepam? If it's been more than 2 or 3 months you will need to come off them slowly and it's not advisable to just stop cold turkey....read up on the Ashton method and show your doctor. The key to panic attacks is if you fear them even a little they won't go away

How long have you been on the meds? I wish my doctor had said no. I became physically addicted and had terrible withdrawls. Ive been off of ativan for 18 months and feeling great. I had to come off very slowly.. Good luck

GP prescribed Valium and sleeping tablets as and when needed to help with a panic attack but I have myself taking about 2 a week and now I am almost out of tablets and GP has said they are to addictive and won't give me any more not even to try and get the drugs out my body what surprised me is my GP gave me 60 sleeping tablets in one pescribtion all at 7.5 mg and Valium at 2 mg and 20 tablets of Valium why are gps happy to give out lots of sleeping tablets but with Valium they don't ...

I thought they where both hugely addictive if anyone can help me with just question that would be great

Ask your GP for a referral to a phsyciatrist that can administer drugs. They can look at why you are having panic attacks and see if a different medical approach is needed. Be proactive. I'm tired of the GP's that look at you like a bad child for asking for help when you are at the end of your rope.Panic attacks are not pretty, and many GPs dont know how horrible it feels.

I was under there care under the cmht but I recently got discharged as they said I don't need there help anymore the cmht are so over run and I they discharge so many people even though they are still not okay I don't think the NHS are very good really and I have had to do therapy privately in the past which has cost me a lot which helped a tiny bit but not much.
