You know, try a beta blocker like Atenalol. I would have palpitations during the nght which made me turn to benzos and sleeping pills. Now I take 50 ml of Atenalol with Seroplex, and I sleep like a baby. Atenalol takes an hour to work, but you dont have breakthrough palps. I take both about an hour before I want to fall asleep, and that hour is usually with the lights out. If you sleep well, you feel so much better when you wake up. I might add that people have sleep cycles during the night, so don't freak out if you wake up. You will shortly drop off again.

Sarah. Hi, first of all. I just want to say that when I quit the OXi I was on, I went through some real severe anxiety and really depression like I couldnt beleive. I am a pretty up beat kind of guy but I didnt think i was going to make it. But I turned to prayer for help and you may find this hard to beleive, my prayers were answered. I was able to get past my withdrawal symptoms and to add to this dtory, I even quit my zopliclone right after I was done with my OXI. I feel completely free now, not looking for my pills in the morning and at night. I now know that Jesus has a purpose for me on earth and I have yet to fulfill his wishes. I know this cause in my time of darkness, I contiplated suicide and when I prayed for help, I recieved it. Its now up to me to live as truthful to my self that I can be. I will say also, I will never ever take an addictive med ever again. So Sarah, remember, there are thousands of people out there, feeling or going through what you are. and remember, in your times of suffering, you are not alone.

Amen...Christ reigns in my heart too...

      hi Sara,

To sleep, perhaps you will consider this natural reinforcement...

In preparation for sleep, out brain prompts the release of Melatonin. Todays lights and screens inhibit this natural release. My neurologist suggested I try taking non prescription Melatonin, no more than 3 mg, two hours before bedtime. Perhaps you will consider this treatment...It took about a week to retrain my system...sleep without the grogy wake up...it helps if you darken your room and cool your room

Don't give up, you have already come so far

      hugs

Sarah if you've only been taking 2 mg of diazepam - valium a couple of times a week you wont get any withdrawal symptoms, it's too low a dose.

The one i might be concerned about is the sleeping tablets ,  what are they and have you been taking them every night anf for how long

if they are also a benzodiazapine and you been on them longer than a month then it would be best to taper
