Did anyone improve on thyroxine?

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone went on thyroxine to find the lichen sclerosis improved. I know that low iodine, selenium etc can cause hypothyroidism but some of us have unidentified thyroid problems that aren't related to iodine deficiency. eek

Hi Lula1. In reply to your query re thyroxine & LS, I was diagonosed with an under active thyroid a year & a half ago & this is when I began to suffer with LS.  I had no idea that I had LS until yesterday when I was told by my gyn that the results of my biopsy came back as positive for LS. So sorry to say the thyroxine hasnt made any improvement to my LS at all.

I also think that thyroid condition, adrenal problems and LS come as a bundle - all one and the same problem.  The question remains:  what causes it.

      Exactly wink

The endocrine system must be very closely tied to the immune system. The closest I have come to an answer is my diagnosis of CVID. I am left asking another question. What causes CVID?  Apparently it is caused by genetic differences or mutations in the immune system. There is a high rate of autoimmune thyroid disease in people with CVID. Autoimmunity is often caused by weak immunity rather than too overactive as some will assume.

I start to think that too - weak immunity rather than overactive.
