Did you inform your insurance company?

I haven't as yet. No-one else drives my car and I won't be driving until I get the go ahead so as far as I can see it's no different from me going away for 6 weeks and the car sitting on the drive.
Of course, if it's a legal requirement I will, but I've just scoured all the paperwork I was given by the hospital and it isn't mentioned anywhere.
Just wondering if I should ???

I did so when I was coming to my 6 week time. They made anote of it and said that I could drive either when I was able to or when the doctors said I could. It did not make any difference in my premium and they did not charge me to change my file.

the recommendations vary from surgeon to surgeon, company to company. Might be worth readin the small print in your policy if worried.
i think the effective wording is something like, must ne in complete control of the car, ie any op or medical condition, such as THR, does not affect you during driving.
which leg is operated on and manual or automatic also comes into play

See there is a bit of confusion here my surgeon told me 4 to 6 week before l could drive depending on my recovery. I will be 5 weeks tom but l have been out twice a small drive and am driving to physio tom morning. I will mention it to them to see if they know. A lot of people are saying 6 week which quite possibly could be right. I am no expert. But the 1st thing l done when l drove was make sure l could do an emergancy stop without any problems and l was fine. I can't see anything on my policy that says l need to inform them. Again l could be missing it. I have no clue if l am right or wrong but if l am wrong then l am to late as l have already drove once to local town then yesterday l went a bit further with no issues at all. I personally feel ready thats whatvl though mattered. If l thought l was a danger to anyone or l was struggling walking but l am not l would not do it. I can walked unaided now without the limps l used to have. Again my personal recovery not everyone is the same.
Hope your feeling ok and are starting to recover

I couldn't see anything in my policy and I see my insurer (Churchill) is an 0845 number. I'm blowed if I'm going to pay to ask them a simple question. I'll see how I go. I certainly won't drive until I feel safe to so and will probably leave it until my consultant gives me the go-ahead.
I'm feeling so much better Laura I can't believe it.

Yes, doing well I think. Ii just wish i didn't wake up at stupid o'clock with backache from the dreaded back sleeping. I may start a thread about it if I can't find a solution with pillows. The first few days weren't too bad but now - ouch ouch ouch - and another night's sleep scuppered.
Can't wait to be able to turn on my side.

I didn't do anything, regarding insurance. I listened to advice on here last year and it all seemed conflicting. I drove when I felt safe and started doing very, very short trips first of all to build up my stamina.
Had a short drive yesterday and my leg didn't fall off so I shall do it again today.

I didn't even think about that - I was told by doctor's secretary that doc will not authorize driving (liability issue
) - 6 weeks is usually the follow up appointment where ROM etc. is checked - if all OK and you feel comfortable , you can drive -
