Different clearance methods

Hi all,

I was wondering if maybe we could share some of our different clearance/physio methods and maybe learn something from each other.

I personally have tried everything from the flutter and acapella devices to ACBT and clapping. However, my own invented methods seem to be much more efficient for me. I used to lay on the bed and lean over the side while doing my active cycle breathing methods and this works very well for me. However, since this is rather straining on my body and often brings on nose bleeds😄, I now do a doggie pose on the floor - hands and elbows on floor - and then breathe in deeply and out long and deep and if there is anything there, this method seems to bring it up for me.

Anyways, I'm always looking to learn more about this disease and how to deal with it, so if anyone wants to share their methods - obscure or not - that would be great.

    Ida, I have progressed through the exact methods that you have and find the "Doggy Style" method the best of all. It normally takes me about five minutes to clear all of the mucous. I find that once a day, in the evening, is the best. I have tried in the morning and afternoons but there is nothing to express. I don't know if this method would work for everyone, but it would be good to hear if others have tried or are willing to try. So much eaiser. I can use the method when I'm out at niight. I excuse myself and find a seclude area and get the mucous up in no time and get back to my avtivity.

      Hi Russ,

      Thanks for sharing. It's great to hear how this doggy style method works for so many of us. I tend to do it just before lunch, but I'm going to try to stretch it till the afternoon/evening. Some days I produce and some days I don't - I have mild bronchiectasis

      Unlike you, however, I don't find it easy to do when I'm not at home. When on the road, I worry about finding a secluded and clean bathroom where I can get on my kness and elbows. How do you mangage that?

      Ida, it depends where I am. If I'm at a restaurant or church I can usually get a private moment in one of the stalls and manage to express all or most of all the sputum. I usually am able to squat and lean over. If I have for privacy I will fimd a way to get my head lower to the ground. I'm glad you put this request on. A ton of methods came to the light, but the dogge style seems a favorite for many.

    Ida, it depends where I am. If im at a restaurant or at church I can usualyy get into a stall and wait for some privocy. I am not able to get onto my knees of course,but am able to get enough postual decline to get most are all of the sputum up.

    I forgot to mention that I use a vibrator on occassion, but haven't noticed much of a difference. One of my doctors suggested it.
