Diverticular Disease

Hi can anyone help please I have been diagnosed with Diverticular Disease but I get a lot of pain in my right side' also at the bottom of my tummy it feels like I have pebbles rolling around. I have also had a gastric bypass 5 years ago so eating bran is something I cant do and to be honest don't need as I go too much neutral as soon as I eat I am in the loo and I am so scared when I go out because I know if I get a little anxious I need the loo and I wont eat out because of the same reason. It feels my life revolves around the loo day and night and I am getting so drained and tried by it all. Can anybody help please my doc don't seem to know what to do neutral Thanks for reading x

Hi girls interesting reading page 36 daily mirror today

Thanks for the info. Kaz, I don't usually eat eggs as I usually feel a bit heavy afterwards but for some reason I fancied egg on toast lunchtime. Afterwards I wished that I hadn't ate them and I don't think that I will bother again. There is a new web site that my daughter in law told me about that makes gluten free bread that is just like small bloomer loaves. She showed me one that she had in her freezer, two of my grandaughters are on gluten and lactose free food. These loaves are not as expensive as other gluten free bread and the girls love it. I will see if I can find the website as I can't find the paper that had the web address on.

    My Soda Bread Recipe:

225 grams spelt flour (I use half white spelt and half wholegrain spelt.)

    half tsp. salt

    1 tsp. bicarbonate of soda

    Tablespoon oil

    284mls buttermilk (carton from Tesco)

I cook on electric at 210 degrees fan oven for 25 minutes (mark 7 gas)

I did see a recipe that used yoghurt instead.

Hi girls cartons sorry not been on before been hell of a day but I did get up the shops and got some rice milk and dyralite drinks so will start them tomorrow.

Hope you are both ok ? I should tell you a bit about me I am 56 live with my 2nd hubby Noel who's 65 I have 3 sons 8 grandchildren and one great granddaughter

I had a gastric bypass 4 years ago and lost 12 stone up to today' I had to learn a whole new way of eating after that and seems I have to again.

My sons are ok as long as I don't talk about my illness typical boys or men I should say.

I tend to keep things to myself so talking to you both on here means a lot to me and has helped no end and I know I keep saying but thank you.

Kaz I think you were very brave to through all the pills out but I can understand why I have to take a lot of pills myself and sometimes you just think enough enough but well done you for coming this far. I hope it carries on working for you and don't forget if you need a good moan we are here for you as well.

Hi Joan, Hope that you are feeling better now. I have had quite a good day today but it is the mornings when I often feel worse. I think that at the moment both you and Kaz are worse than I am but I can feel O.K. for a while and suddenly go downhill again. I have a daughter and 2 sons they are all quite sympathetic and I can talk to our daughter even if it is on the phone or by email as she lives about 30 miles away and works during the day.

Almost time for bed so I think that I will put my feet up for a while and lose myself in a book.

Morning girls and Happy Birthday Phylis hope you have a lovely day.

    How are you both today?

I went back to see doc he said the only way he can help is by sending me to see a colon consultant and see about having a op but I told him im not having any more ops so hes put me on mebeverine and peppermint oils and see if that help also about changing food like what we have been talking about so that was that.

I started the rice milk this morning and was surprised its not bad at all I thought it would have that teast you get with soy milk but you done so pleased with that.

So what you girls up to today?

Hi Both of you, thank you for the Best wishes, I have lots of flowers everywhere now from our three and their families.

We walked the dog this morning and then I popped into Tesco. since then husband has dozed in the chair while I have been tidying up and making soda bread. I am waiting for it to cool before having it with some carrot and corriander soup.

I think that the eggs that I ate yesterday have slowed my system down as I have been in the loo about 3 times but still feel uncormfortable. I am the opposite to what I used to be a few years ago but I think that as well as the "D" disease I read somewhere that the colon narrows as we get older.

I definitely have to change my diet. the only problem is that at the moment I have quite a bit of wholemeal bread flour in my cupboard and my husband will not eat wholemeal bread. In fact he can eat anything and never has any problems.

I often overdo the housework as well Kaz, especially if I have not felt well for a few days or other things crop up and housework gets all behind. Then I try to do it all in one day and get overtired as you have done.

What do you knit? I knit but with knitting machines and I sew, although not as much as I used to as I have discovered that as you get older you can't cram as much into a day as you used to.

I also used to do a lot of baking.

Hope that you both have a good day tomorrow.
