if you don't want an MRI due to feeling claustrophobic you can always ask to have a CT scan instead.  Best wishes.

Are you able to get and mri? I haven't done it yet and don't like small spaces but an open ended wide bore looks ok. I think surely if the Drs suspected something sinister they would send for mri? I wonder why it's a time thing, are you eating well, hydrated with water, breathing properly ? From having this I'm not down playing what you have but just checking off the basics .

Yesterday after spending 3 weeks and half a day permanently dizzy , mine suddenly cleared , no idea why, all I did diff was start high dose vitamin c powder in case of ear infection , prob not related but couldn't hurt.

I know it's so scary, I really hope you can get an answer soon.

Sounds like Vestibular Neuritis but, the MRI would be good to rule out an Acoustic Neuroma or any other head issues.  Did you have a concussion before this started?  Car accident, etc.?

Thanks for your answer, my 1st dizzy attack was when me and my sister went to a 3D ride where it moves and vibrate its very wavy ride and after that ride for about 30minutes i got a huge dizziness that last for 20minutes until home and so on until now...

I would ask your GP for. Referral to a Neuro otologist,,as I recommend to everyone on here.  not a Neurologist only as they are, mainly looking for tumours and or damage, and that kind of thing.  You obviously have a vestibular problem and the otologist people know more than Ents.they will  do much more testing and give you a proper course of treatment.  It,s your right to have  get this referral,so don,t be fobbed off Okay!

I'm sorry you're having so many problems with balance and dizziness. This is a debilitating experience. Have you had your neck checked? For some,t this is just a matter of a vertebrae being out of alignment.i had an entire day today of no dizziness. hiked 4 miles and stayed busy..then sitting at the computer.i felt myself sway...i do know i have a bad neck, and inner ear problems...Hang in there. try Dr. Carol Foster's exercise..it might do the trick. and i hope you get x-rayed to take a look at your neck/spine...I know a guy who was in horrible head pain, seeing double, and constantly nauseas. His Dr wanted to do an MRI..but he went to a chiro first..Turned out to be a  pinched nerve from  years of looking down in his work...Take care. keep us posted.

Sure..Use a neti-pot or bulb syring...2 cups warm water with a tsp. salt and a pinch of soda...Use one cup per nostril.Tilt head sideways over basin and pour warm solution in one nostril..Sounds weird, but it will clean sinuses and the water will exit the other nostril. Repeat with the other side..Blow nose gently..There are vids, and instructions online..My Dr. told me this 6 months ago..It will cause ears to pop..I also have the breaking sound in the neck..it's shocking...went to chiro for another xray last week, and 2 vertebrae or nearly closed in neck..Depressing, as thisis what i hoped to avoid.  I hope your Dr. checks your spine...he should if you're having these bone breaking sounds...Perhaps you should be taking liquid minerals to strengthen bone, too..I wish you well!

    Hi there,

Very sorry to hear about your problem for all this time.

I have had my vestibular problem for 18 months now, and have had to give up work due to my unsteadiness and walking difficulties.

I have had to seek my own help as GP and ENT didnt have a clue what was wrong with me. I am now under an incredible balance team in Kent Medway Maritime Hospital. Although this is is a 4 hour journey for me its worth it. I have just started walking a bit on my own as before I couldnt even get to the dust bin outside. I think its a matter of confidence and as my therapist says learning to trust your body.

I would advise you to get an MRI done I know its scarey, but things can be ruled out. Take care now Jan.
