Dizziness In Waves

Hi,

Does anyone's dizziness come in waves? Since u had my second baby in April I have been constantly dizzy, I had a ct scan in June which was normal because of headaches I was getting prior to the baby being born and it was a detailed scan apparently that picked up nothing so the nuerologist discharged me off his list :-( however for the last 4/5 months I have had horrendous dizziness, it's there in the morning, it's there where I go to bed, there is just no let up, I am also getting a lot of headaches I don't know it it's stress, tension or migraine I haven't a clue & neither has gp, I have seen ent incase it's my ears and he thinks it could be vestibular neuritis but I'm not convinced they seem to use that just to fob you off with something, however this wouldn't cause the headaches!!! I am taking sertraline & propanranol for anxiety but again I'm convinced I'm being palmed off with the anxiety scenario I'm only anxious because I feel so rubbish all the time, it stops you doing everything, I could be just sitting chilling watching telly and it'll come as a wave through my body any my heart will start pounding it's horrible I don't understand why when I am at rest I still get dizzy, I've had a 24hr heart monitor and I'm waiting results I'm assuming all is ok as I've not heard anything!! I just hate feeling this way all the turn, as I type this my eyes won't focus properly and my head feels really really heavy and dizzy :-(

Also and it might be a long shot...but were you taking any oral contraceptives before you were pregnant? And gone back on them now? Or any other medicines that you had to stop while pregnant and now gone back on? Or foods? Drink? Might be something - even coffee!

I was on the depo injection but came off because of headaches then fell pregnant, I then had the implant put in 5 months ago and I'm having it taken out Friday to rule things out! I was taking propanranol and stopped that when I was pregnant apart from that i was taking nothing I had tried all sorts before though! Food and drinks before I didn't touch caffeine but when I was pregnant the only thing I could drink was Coke but have since stop drinking caffeine again as I'm not sure if it was helping with the headaches or if it was a mind thing! I have an ent app on 30th Dec so I will certainly press him to do what he can rather than just tell me it's this or it could be that! I have tried to think of so many things that it could be and everything leads me back to dread the worst and as much as I try cos I feel so poo I can't get that out my head :-( I appreciate there is only so much there doctors can do unless you go private and I have a few times paid for private treatment but I can't keep afford £200 here and there to see a specialist that tells me one thing and someone else tells me another! Thank you both so much for talking to me I appreciate what you are both saying sometimes it helps just talking to like minded people and listening to others as rubbish as we all feel we have something in common xx

Doctors have told me there are 3 compnents to balance. Input from feet/nees/hips to brain, eyes, and inner ear. If any one of these is off, it could make you dizzy. There also mechanical things that could account for dizziness, and there are specific test for these, which Rita mentioned, above. Your ENT doctor should be able to put you through them. If he thinks it's a central (brain) thing, he should send you to a neurologist or a specialized neurologist in the firld of ear/eye problems. Good luck. going on with this for over a year now, and I just keep getting shuffled back and forth between doctors, with no real diagnoses, just treatments that do not seem to be helping at all, so I don't think they've found the cause yet. It takes a while. Hang in there.

Hi Rita, thanks for the check in, not such a good week thought things were improving but have had a stressful Christmas with my 2 kids being poorly, now I'm not feeling good, just b4 Christmas I found a lump in my neck on the right side & a bump on my muscle on my shoulder, the docs have put forward for a scan on my neck doesn't think it's serious but wants to check it out because of my history, I have ent appointment Wednesday so in a way I'm looking forward to that as so much going on it that area at the mo I'm really hoping he arranges an mri of head and neck! I had an eye test done last week to where they took photos of the back of the eye to see if any nerves where enlarged where they can tell if any brain tumours are present and all looked fab so that's good news! I am still feeling dizzy a lot of the time and I've this horrible pain at the base of my skull which I don't know what it is, I had to pop to shops today and I couldn't do it, I just needed to get home my head felt all dizzy and heavy and I started to panic I felt like I had to hold my head up it was that awful, I just don't know what is going on its horrific X how are you feeling? X
