Dizziness only when sitting down/lying down

I have an inside feeling that i am moving but this only happens when i am not doing anything. Its kind of like like i am on a train moving or an airplane. I am not falling over or losing balance. I cant even watch t.v and just relax. It feels much better when i am moving. It actually feels better when i am driving and doing exercises. This is really annoying and dont know wat to do. I still have a very big appetite but i cant really enjoy the food because of this. I Think the problem is either the neck or the ears. I got blood tested and urine tested( came back normal) and didnt need to do further tests because keeping me in bed. My doctor gave me paxil but i kinda dont want to use it yet because of the side effects. I am so mad because how can you get dizzy when your not doing anything, doesnt make any sense. I just need some advice and if some one could explain what is happening to me.

I have similar issues with dizziness and light headedness.  For me I feel it at quiet times standing or sitting but the worst is laying down. My doctor said it's likely positional vertigo. Meaning there is a crystal that has developed in the ear organ That controls balance. There are YouTube videos that teach you how to " shake it loose". I just learned this and have not tried yet.

I think anxiety has a lot to answer for. I've ignored my dizziness this last few weeks, literally giving it no attention. It's getting better smile definitely worth a try.

Each one of you including Rich might find the website vestibular dizziness association very resourceful. Seems like some of you have different forms of dizziness and needn't even live with the spinning sensation you have, if correctly diagnosed by a physician/ ENT specialized in neuro-otology and treated by a vestibular trained physical or occupational therapist.Good luck.

    Correction.

    It's Vestibular Disorders Association.

    Hi guys and gals

So I'm in the same boat !! but keen to get the boat to dock and get off it!

I'm starting 3rd week of it, had ECG, MRI IAMS's & Brain (all OK) not allowed to drive off sick because I'm unsteady on my feet and think I wouldn't be able to work as it's very difficult to concentrate. Cooking dinner is difficult!

    Anyone found a cure?

Hi Clare, I understand completely. I just took a 1/2 Valium I hope it helps me a lil. No one really understands when I say I don't feel well but I can't lay down usually when you don't feel well you go lay down when I lay down I feel worse I just don't understand why we have to go through this.

      I hope you're doing better!

      Hi

I had been dealing with the same symptoms for nearly 6 months.

I was slowly recovering. The symptoms finally just stayed the same and did not improve. What I did notice was that I had symptoms like a pressure in my head and off balance feeling after sitting for a while. Especially when in front of my computer. I tried everything that I have read here including scans, visiting the ENT, blood tests. To no avail.

Well I discovered when I positioned my self a certain way the feeling would go away.

      Very interesting.

Then a friend of mine asked me if I had any neck injuries or posture changes. I did notice as I get older my posture is not how it had been when I was younger. I also found myself slouching at the computer.

He also asked me if I had ever seen a chiropractor. I said no.

So I met with a chiropractor and he adjusted my "Atlas" vertebrae. Then I was instantly feeling better and when I sit down i no longer have that feeling of pressure and no longer have the vertigo.

The vestibulocochlear Nerve goes through there and if it's out of alignment can cause the vertigo. Also I felt like I had a lack of blood flow or pressure to my head and that is also a side effect of this atlas vertebrae being out of alignment. I'm now symptom free and living my life normally again.

      I hope this helps.

Oh yes also I decided to get a stand up desk top so I don't sit and slouch anymore !

HI everyone, I am new here, been going through this on and off for over 20 years. DX with BPPV I was given exercises to do. 8-20-15 it came back bad. woke up spinning. Went to ENThe did the Epley Maneuver n it stopped the spinning at least. Went back n  had ENG/VNG test done. Said my right ear was over active. Since that test I have been having ( the head shifts) I have had 3 ENG/VNG since the 90's. But, haven't been really right since the last one. Everyone is different this is just my experience. I

am fine in car When moving but at a light the feeling comes back. I am better as the passenger. I have a hard time sitting watching tv can't sit back. Also getting that pulling head feeling in my sleep now. Trying to prop pillows but then my neck starts on me. For a few months I felt pretty ok but last Sat the feeling in my head is back big time.  I may have to have oral surgery and so afraid to put my head back.  Maybe he can put me out for it.

    Thank you all

Hi Rich, I see you were suffering with two years ago, have you gotten any relief? I have the very same symptoms going on for the last 7 months but they have progressed to afffect me when I walk also and I have a strange sensation when I move certain parts of my body, my whole body feels to be moving. I have had some PT work on my neck which made it worse.

The ENT specialist suspects mal de debarquememt syndrome with spontaneous onset but I have no relief whatsoever! I have an MRI of the brain next week so will see what will come of that, hopefully nothing serious!

If anyone can shed any light or offer any suggestions, that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Natalia
