dizzyiness and headaches

Hi all. I am a 42 year old healthy male that is suffering from terrible headaches and dizzy spells with lightheaded feeling. This all happened about 2 weeks ago when I was out walking and all of a sudden felt dizzy and had a little headache after.I went the the ER at hospital 5 days later as was still feeling headache and dizzy spells. They done blood work that came back clear, done neuro tests on body and came back clear, don't a CT scan on brain and came back clear. They wanted to do a lumber puncture but another doctor said it was to late as there is a 72 hr window from when you first experience symtoms to test that in a way I was glad not to have that. Anyway I have been back to ER since with same problems and they said they cant help me I need to see a neuro doctor.
I am really depressed as cant go out much as to dizzy for walking long distance and don't know what to do now. The second time I went to ER the doc said Ct is fine nothing to worry about but I know my body and how I feel. I was also tested for a inner ear infection and that's ok. Again symtoms are headache that varies and dizzy spells on and off throughout the day. Am I a lost cause as I have trained in the gym for over 20 years lifting weights and I haven't been since this happened.

Did your doctors come up with a diagnosis? Did you finally get some relief?

After my useless neurologist visit I went to an audiology center. They ran hearing tests which I passed no problem. Next they did some VRT exercises as well they stick balloons inside ur ear canal and fill them up with different temperatures of water. Long story short the doc said that she believed I have labyrinthitus in my left ear. She sent me on my way with VRT exercises to do at home twice a day

I would ask again to be referred to a VRT physiotherapist as I am sure that they are meant to advise and guide you with these exercises.
I was also sent home from the ENT consultant with a few exercises but the rest have come from the physio. xx

I would agree but some medications do help.Ive found the medication for my migraine brilliant but everyone reacts differently.
Keeping active is the key and now after 5months of being off work I am now at the stage I can return.xx

I've been reading all your comments and suggestions and I have found them so useful.
I have been off work since Dec when I had a sudden attack of vertigo, so frightening.
I was lucky that my GP instantly diagnosed Labrinitis and was seen 6weeks later by a ENT consultant who diagnosed the same as well as Positional Vertigo and migraine related vertigo.
I had 2 Epley Manoeuvre which quite frankly made me feel awful but did work.
I have now had 6 sessions of VRT and I have improved.
Im on regular medication for the migraine and have not had any since February (I was getting them daily before this).
What I have found like most of you is that this is a debilitating condition that other's find hard to understand as to them you look "ok" when in fact you feel far from ok.
ive found walking albeit tiring has helped me and keeping as active as possible (ive not been to any keep fit session).
My consultant has said that I wont be able to go back to my full time job because of the tiredness and stress, both of which are particular triggers for me.
like alot if others my hearing is not great and I have to battle the daily tinitits which quite frankly some days is so loud that is leaves me feeling quite depressed.
I'm in the Guilford area if any ones elses is.
A big thank you to this site as it has kept me sane when ive been in a not so good place.
Diana xx

Can I ask you what your migraines feel like?
I've suggested to my wife that maybe my headache is a form of migraine but because she gets severe migraines she passes mine off as a headache and because I never really got headaches prior to my inner ear issues I don't have a proper point of reference. All I know is I have some form of headaches everyday apart from when I'm sleeping.
Also would you mind telling me what medicine you take for your migraines?
Thanks

Yes of course. For me they always start over my left temple and make me feel really sick and dizzy.I often get problems with my vision and become light and heat sensitive.
Mine will wake me at night
I was taken injections but the ENT guy has put me on 50mg of Topiramate which has stopped them completly. For the first in years I am migraine free.
I hope this helps.

I find the light generally affects my balance and vision with the Labrinitis.

I had a constant headache for a few weeks with no relief. Then I would get these shooting pains that would start at my forehead and shoot to the back of my head (Felt like I was getting stabbed with an icepick!) along with the constant hungover headache feeling. Double vision and balance problems started up. Had a ct scan that came back as normal. I thought I was losing my mind!! Nothing I tried would help at all and actually it seemed the harder I tried, the worse I felt. Then my doctor tried a different medicine. I live in the states, so it might be called something else or not available...I don't know... But it worked (Knock on wood) so far!! No more headaches, double vision, dizziness, etc... I feel like myself again!! Took a few days to kick in, but everyday I felt a little better than before. It's been a week and now I feel great! The medicine is called Methylprednisolone. It came in tablets that you take for a week. You start off taking 6 tablets for the 1st day and wean down to 1 tablet the last day.

I am new to this so hope this is right. Ive just come accross this conversation on here while looking for some answeres my self. I have exactually the same sysmtoms as you have. Two weeks ago on the Friday night i was sat watching TV when i suddenly got a really bad headache, i also felt sick and dizzy! since i have had problems with Virtigo in the past i put my self back on the tablets.
Cut a long story short, i have had brain scan and blood test which all came back clear, now been put on Propranolol was on 80mg but then had them reduced to 40mg twicw a day, still dont feel A1 but better than i was. I just want to get back to normal so i can feel confedent going out and getting back to the gym too.Luckly I am off work for six weeks but thats no cosolation, i feel like a prisoner in my own home.
Could you please let me know how you are feeling now?I do hope your way and truly on the right road to recovery.
