DLA Indefinite to PIP?

Posted , 72 users are following.

Hi,

I am on the high Mobility and Care Rates of DLA, but what happens when I am changed to PIP?

I have seen many people mention they are on PIP and it has been awarded for 3 years, and spoken to one person and she was granted PIP Award for 10 years.

Does this mean the 'Indefinite' period of DLA will not exist under the new PIP Allowance.

I recently had my annual letter stating DLA Care and Mobility, both on High Rates are 'indefinite'.

To me that makes no sense whatsoever, 'indefinite' means 'indefinite', not 3 or 10 years!

I would be interested if someone could answer this question and explain why people are only getting 3 or 10 year awards. rolleyes

Regards,

Les.

Hi, I have just been reading through this site regarding DLA & PIP refusals . I was on DLA indefinitely and my application for PIP was refused . Would you be so kind as to letting me have the details to the group of people that help with these issues that you mention in your post. Thank you

                                                Best regards ,,,,,, Neil

Ive been in support group ffor nearly three years as pip and before that top rate DLA for both components for more than 14 years.Ive just been sent a letter confirming inpm still getting yop rate P.i.p for indefinate time gor each part.On the same day i e received a esa application? Do i need to start all over again with esa claim ? Surely getting top rate P.iP support for everything  means ive been found to be unable to work and by definition im  not able to do what is asked in the esa form .im bedbound 24/7 nearly ten years now with an unchanging diagnosis .if i do need to reapply could you let me have a tel no of someone who could help me th my claim please?

Many thanks .Ps i live in N. ireland but its still uk so there should be some one who can guide me.

Ok I’m just wondering if I rang to change from Dla to pip too early as I had 3 weeks left to do it and panicked with having to get all supporting evidence so rang up last week but I just want it all sorted and if I’d of left it then they could have said you’ve had 4weeks to return the forms and just stop money till they receive the forms back

Not really sure I understand what you mean?  In that you don't really have a choice , Once you receive a letter saying that you are being taken off DLA ( even though it was indefinite)  and you can apply for PIP .

If you do they send you their claims form (pip2) once you received that you have 4 weeks to send it back. if you fail to get PIP, You then have the choice of appeal.

I would advise you to seek help if you don't feel that you can fill out the form.

My Dla form to pip letter arrived a said I had TIL the 19july to ring them to claim pip or money stopped on the 19th July so as I know you’ve got to get all your supporting evidence etc I rang them on the 28th/29th July as the forms can take up to 14 days to arrive and they’ve to be completed within the time scale and sent back with all supporting evidence and as you know most people won’t just give you supporting evidence without an appointment etc and I only see my support worker on ☝️ medication every 2 weeks so didn’t want to risk the timescale of ringingly and filling out and returning the forms as surly if people leave it till the final week of there Dla award stopping the pip team will then think you’ve just dragged it out as the letter to dla to pip is scanned by the postman so they know when your form was sent and received or would you have waited till the 15-18th of July then rang to claim pip as they told me until a descision is made on your pip assessment you still get your Dla payment till your pip descision has been made and you have compiled with there dates etc any help or advice is greatly appreciated Thankyou

Hope your ok just a quick question . I was sent my Dla to pip letter on the 28/29th June and had till the 19th of July to ring and apply for pip . I rang them on the 3rd of July this month to claim pip as I know it takes time to get your supporting evidence and all letters etc so I didn’t want to leave it till the last week to ring and claim pip incase they said you’ve had the letter knowing that your Dla was stopping so why have you left it so late off them which then would then have them saying I’d not complied with there time scale etc or would you have left it aslong as possible and rang them on the final week like the 17th July for example any help is gratefully appreciated Thankyou

Hi, Yes I understand , very similar to me actually. Although when they sent me the pip2 forms to fill out I only had about 10 day which I phoned them and it was extended  to about 3.5 weeks. I never sent any supporting evidence, all I did was tell them my  consultant's and doctors ,Anti-TNF Nurse Specialist's, Rheumatology Specialist Sister. when you look at it just take your time and consider the CAB..

That’s what I thought or everybody would be just waiting until the final week then they’d be swamped with applications and then I would imagine they’d say you’ve had enough time like you only had 10days sometimes you can’t get the appointment you need or letters in a short time so they’d use it against you’re claim surly luckily Iv got most of my supporting evidence ready for when the pip2 form arrives theyv said they’ll keep Payin my Dla until a descision is made on my pip application but I just thought dragging it out till the final week you’ve to ring them up to claim pip would just look a bit iffy and then they’d say Iv had plenty of time especially when it’s a long term disability they’d see know reasons for me not to ring and claim pip in plenty of time rather than leave it till the last week for example the 17th July when my Dla ends on the 19th if Iv not rang by then to apply for pip it instantly stops or gets suspended I just thought main priority is get my evidence again and ring for the claim then Iv time to make sure it’s all correct and up to date aswell as previous evidence that’s still the same as the evidence they use on me nor Do you think I did it the right way as like you said if ur forms come back and you’ve only got 10days to return them then you’re in a tight spot to get ur supporting evidence etc so if u did drag it out then they’d just make the date on the letter earlier or possibly say you didn’t comply with there time scale etc as the dwp don’t exactly rush but if nothings logged on there system then they’ve got more chance of having the upper hand on us I take it well it’s out of my hands now until it’s all sorted and I receive my pip application then return it and just wait like us all then it’s in the hands of the gods

As I was told of someone to just leave it till the final week so that would of been on the 17thjuly to leave it as late as possible but from past experiences Iv learnt if you leave things till last minute with the dwp it can end up going against you as I imagine when they make there descision they’re Lookin at when you rang them up aswell compared to the dates on your forms as they know that if your illness is long term or disability then you would have rung them to apply before and not literally 2 days before your claim was to stop it just would look like you’ve just continued to get ur Dla payment up to the last week then ringing them to make a claim to switch to pip then I would imagine time is against you on your forms all I can do is like the rest of us provide them with the evidence they need and comply with the forms and time scales then they’ve nothin to use against me or think well he’s only just contacting us now when he’s had the letter 3-4 week especially if the person knows that they’ll have to claim pip
