Do any of you wear high heels?

Just wondering if wearing high heels is over after new hips.  Have any of you been able to wear heels after like you did before surgery?  And how does it make your hips feel?

I had my surgery in May and I wear 1 1/2- 2 inch heels all the time. Wedge heels are the best for me. I actually walk better with that height of heel. Seems to take the pressure off the hip, not like when I wear slippers.

Thanks Loral.  I have been afraid to wear any heels at all.  Wedges do seem like a good choice.

10 weeks recovery, feel great stIll walk outside with one crutch but inside trying to walk normal, suffered for about 2-3 years so have muscle tightnes which may or may not rectify its self, besides being bone to bone my hip which was displaced  had become very friendly with my pelvis, before operation my leg had a good 3cm difference now down to just under 1. So on my way to being normal again if i knew or remembered what that was.

Well Sue, I am sending you strength and am so glad you are feeling great!  I do not think our previous normal will ever be, however, our new normal will be just fine compared to the recent abnormal...

People say to me just walk normal, well  i really cannot remember, i even had to ask is it toe heel or heel toe to the physio as i got to the point before the op where i was limping so much.  Your right this is new normal, and every day i get a new normal , life is different now and i am going to start enjoying it again.

Ha Ha!  I considered putting "Ladies" in the title, but then I thought it might offend those males who do wear heels!

Rocketman - My poor daughter inherited her fathers feet, size 12's, very tall, 6ft 1inch with usband 6ft 2inch, and brother in law 6ft 6inch, so lots of height towering over me. I'm always the one who has to stand on a building block when family photos are taken, otherwise I look silly.

She has to go to a special fittings shop to buy her shoes.

The choice of styles leaves a lot to be desired, but she can normally find something that fits.

My granchildren look as though they are going to have the same problem, 10 year already in size 9, hes a boy so its not going to matter as much.

I thought I might get somebody my height with the next generation, but it looks as though I am going to still be the half pint again.

It is very difficult if you have a very large or small size requirement.

I also had problems getting clothes to fit, but having lost 70 pounds (5 stone), and 8 inches around my waist, I no longer have that problem.

Shame I couldn't slim my feet by more than the one size I managed (I was size 13 UK, 14 US).

Yes, i know my size problem was self-inflicted, and you cannot change your height, so I do sympathise with your daughter's size problems.  My 'baby' (25yrs) son is 6ft 4ins, so my wife also feels very small in photos.
