Do any of you wear high heels?

Just wondering if wearing high heels is over after new hips.  Have any of you been able to wear heels after like you did before surgery?  And how does it make your hips feel?

Oh Dawn I so want to wear some high heels - the last time I wore some was to a party about 3 years ago. Good party, lots of dancing and I suffered for days afterwards! I have worn flat shoes ever since. So now I have my two shiny new hips I might buy some pretty strappy sandals for the summer.

    How about you too?

I am afraid!  I do not want to put my hips at a wrong angle or something.  But everything I always heard about high heels being bad for your body was concerning the knees.  Maybe I will start with an inch and a half and work my way up to 2 and a half inches?  That is when I get the courage!  Ha! Since I had so much pain with that failed device, I am scared of doing anything wrong that might thwart me backwards into that horror!

Me too,  so a good idea to start low and work your way up? What a good excuse to go shoe shopping 😉

I might do that too ... I have worn flats (ballerinas) for a long time and thought it might have contributed to my walking incorrectly over time ..

Flat footed and cheap shoes, so no support - I haven't worn stiletto;s for decades ....

      Hi dawn,

I'm going to see my surgeon to hopefully be discharged with a see you next year this week.

I could always ask him about heels.. maybe give him a wink or something, and see what he has to say. lol

I think wearing flat shoes may be as bad for our posture and gait as stilettoes? I can't wear very flat, I have high insteps and find them very uncomfortable, mind 3" stilettoes probaby were back in the day! rolleyes

Hi Dawn, I'm so glad it's not just me thinking about heels! I can't wait until I can wear a pair of heels and not walk as though I'm only wearing one!

The vision conjured in what you said is funny and sad at the same time.  Not walk as though I am only wearing one.  So true!  The added sad bonus for me is that my balance has changed over time and I am likely to fall off a high heel!  My how the body changes through time.  I used to have perfect balance.

Hard to believe in the 1960's I wore 3inch stilettoes! Used to go dancing in them too! (I'm 5'6") I haven't worn high heels for years, most of my shoes are 1 1/2" high or thereabouts but I think I still have a pair of 2 or 2 1/2" somewhere that I may give a try, see how I go! I've been a bit wary of wearing high heels perhaps who knows may walk well as long as they're 'sensible' not stilettoes smile

I tried a set of small stillettos once in a shop, nearly snapped my ankles right there in the shoe shop because of my stupid wonky hips haha. And although i cant wear any heels, if i did i could only wear chunky heels haha 😂

In the early eighties, I wore 4 inch stilettoes to dance in and work in.  They never hurt  and I could stand for 12 hours a day.  I was a cosmetologist and worked in the largest salon on the east coast of the USA and we had to dress like fashion models to impress.  Then once I had my baby, I could begin my day with the high heels, but mid shift I had to change down to a lower heel and by the end I had ballerina flats on.

Chunky are very good. There arent as many pairs of chunky ones i think though, all seems to be stillettos

Then the hunt is on!  Nothing more fun for me than to scout out the market to hunt down for what I want!  And in todays day and age, I can do it best on my computer!
