Do Beta Blockers (taken late at night) help with Morning Anxiety?

Posted , 6 users are following.

My doctor prescribed me 40mg 3 times a day of Propranolol (Beta Blocker) to help with the anxiety (as well as the 30mg Citalopram i'm already on.

My question is - will this help with my morning "waking @ 4am in fear" anxiety? If i take it late at night before i sleep? I'm hoping it will make me calmer?

Would appreciate anyones thoughts / experiences

Thanks

Neil

thanks Neil, i had a read around earlier as it seems helpful to understand what's going on inside us so as to hopefully put things into more perspective rather than just 'fall apart' and not have a clue what is happening and why we feel this way.   so i had a read about anxiety, adrenaline and cortisol. i tried lying down for a bit earlier and had the adrenaline/cortisol thing going on and felt awful, but feel better now that i got up again.

Something i have found very helpful is to talk to others about it rather than not tell anyone due to eg. embarrassment or shame.

I find the suicidal thoughts distressing (as anyone would) so have tried to remind myself that those types of thoughts can be increased when starting a new course of antidepressants, and also, those kinds of thoughts are caused but when your pain/suffering is great than your coping skills.

      ok, get well soon everyone!
