Do you set yourself goals?

Posted , 6 users are following.

A social worker who worked with me asked me what I'd do if I got better, and I said 'Go running!'

Sometimes the gloomy feelings when I wonder if I'll always have this are unbearable, but when I think of things I want to do, and set them as goals it makes me more hopeful.

I'd like to play my guitars more and go out walking a bit every day.

What are yours, and if you don't set goals, why?

Although it feels awful and frustrating thinking about what we can't do right now, it helps me to want to get better, thinking I will do that again!

There have been times when I've lost all hope and felt useless, and it makes everything worse and I feel more tired. I try to pat myself on the back for those goals I've achieved now, even if it's just that I've cooked a healthy meal or had a shower!

I used to beat myself up over not being able to cook my son's tea every night, instead of feeling good about when I did. Children are empathic and more understanding than we think. As long as they know you love them, and I'm sure they do, you can be gentle on yourself.

And you will do those things again! It's been a long haul for me but I am getting slowly better and so can you. razz

I know what you are saying. I do praise myself when i deserve it but as you know as a mum we always want to give our families the best. My kids are my lifeline. They provide with reasons and targets for life xxx

So true Donna! There have been so many times through this illness that I've wanted to give up and don't see the point of my existence, but my son has been my reason and motivation. Without him I wouldn't have made it this far. smile

And with his love and wisdom (he's always been wise) he's shown me that I can also be my own reason and motivation, live for me too.
