Doctor only gave me something for dyspepsia. Help!

So I’ve had these symptoms for almost two weeks now and I finally went to the doctors today.

- Abdominal pain that gets worse after eating (usually lower abdominal pain, more pronounced on the left side)

- Had been feeling sick all day until the day before yesterday

- I sometimes get a burning sensation in my stomach but not chest and feel like I have something down my chest or throat when I swallow

- Certain foods make the symptoms worse but it’s hard to tell which ones, usually the fatty ones I suppose

I was constipated yesterday and the day before but I think I was fine today as I have already passed a stool. She checked my belly and said it could be a bacteria or the painkillers I was taking before the symptoms started. I have to do a stool test but that’s gonna take like a week just to find out the results. I really hope it’s not gonna get worse until then or I’ll have to get an emergency appointment. It’s weird she didn’t give me anything for reflux tho. I was taking Lansoprazole  before I went to see her but I forgot to mention it and it does help a bit and I’m not sure if it’s okay to take Lansoprazole and Lactulose.

Anyone any similar experience?

I hate having problems with my stomach, it’s stressing me out.

    Hi

I have similar symptoms to yourself, I’ve been on and off PPI’s for a few years, I’m worse now than I was before I went on them. I’m currently waiting to see a gastroenterologist. I had an endoscopy a while back, that showed inflammation of the stomach and small bowel.

Hope the gastroenterologist will give you proper treatment and you’ll feel better soon. I’m waiting for my stool test results now. I feel much better but because my stool is never of normal color I think I should keep trying to see what’s going on even if I feel alright.

Is your stools light in colour? I get a lot of light coloured stools, and pain in my upper right quadrant, had two ultrasounds, they didn’t show anything, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s my liver, maybe fatty liver. There’s an awful lot of us on here with similar symptoms, it’s amazing all the stomach issues we’re all having. Yes, the nausea is horrible, I get it on a regular basis. Hope you can get some piece of mind with your health issues. 👍

My stools are either light brown or half light half dark brown. I was thinking about fatty liver nas well but many people here have said my symptoms sound like a faulty gallbladder. I just hope it won’t turn into something serious. Good luck to you too!

Your probably in the same position as me, you could be doing with seeing a gastroenterologist, I hope I don’t have to wait long to see mine, and hope she/he sends me for a thorough scan. Good luck 👍

I have been struggling with dyspepsia.  I was diagnosed with GERD in the past.  Oddly enough I found that I could eat many things that I should not be able to with GERD.  The food I could or could not tolerate did not match the symptoms of GERD.  I started a keto diet that would normally send anybody with acid reflux through the roof.  I found my bloating completely went away.  I started to slowly add foods back into my diet because keto is very hard to stay on.  I found bread, buns, and gluten products like noodles are my problem.  I can still eat these things in small amounts but large amounts I have a problem.  I ate a sub 10 hours ago and I still feel overly full and sick.

I guess what works for one, may not work for someone else. I'll try to pay close attention to what actually makes me sick and what not. It's hard to tell tho as my reflux goes over the roof after almost anything. I think gluten is quite bad for me as well. I just wish I could go back to normal already and stop worrying about everything.

Yes at times in the past I got so paranoid that even drinking water seemed to make things worse.  I have also noticed issues after taking large dosage of painkillers.  A few years ago I got very bad and it turned out my gallbladder was blocked and had to be removed.  That pain was located on my RH side but could not tell the exact location.  It felt like back pain that radiated around my ribs into my chest and it was VERY painful.  Severe burping and pressure about a half hour after eating, I did not even know it was possible for a human to burp that much.  The problem was found with a simple blood test that showed high liver enzymes, oddly enough images they took looked perfectly normal.  Surgery confirmed my gallbladder was toast despite healthy looking images they took.  Took them a long time to figure out my gallbladder symptoms getting bounced around to different specialists despite how very common this is.  I just wanted to describe the symptoms of a blocked gallbladder so you don't have to live with that kind of pain without it getting checked out. It is very painful. I doubt this is your problem but many people get this and I think it is more common in women.

I don’t have much pain tbh. The pain was really bad when I was constipated and now I’m struggling with diarrhoea and my stomach doesn’t digest foods properly 😢 Hope I can figure out what’s wrong soon enough. I also hope you’re doing well now.

15 years ago I could not swallow foods, was diagnosed as acid reflux, took PPI's.  As time went on I got bloated and lots of pressure and digestive issues.  When I would stop taking PPI because I thought it was causing my digestive issues I would then develop severe pain.  The bloating and pressure was always worse when exercising.  Would get out of breath, burp and be able to breathe again.  Then I got really bad when my gallbladder had to be removed.  After the removal of the gallbladder, I was fine with no PPI for four years.  Did not pay much attention to what I ate.  Still had some pressure and burped during exercising and times of high anxiety but was ok for the most part, no big deal.  What happened though is that I got injured and took high amounts of painkillers.  I think that messed my stomach up and caused a big downward spiral.  This happened two years ago.  I could never catch my breath, lost lots of weight because I just could not eat much at all and was always in pain. My anxiety shot through the roof and I started to have several panic attacks every day and I developed agoraphobia, for two months I could not even get out of bed.  Agoraphobia and being completely unable to exercise was something new to me.  Anyways recently I changed my diet, first was keto then I added things back.  One week on keto diet changed things drastically. Worst side effect was constipation.  In fact, I became always hungry. I am still not on PPI's and I no longer get bloated and burp unless I eat too much bread and stuff with gluten.  I recently started to exercise again and am working on my anxiety/agoraphobia.  It is a little easier to work now on my anxiety and get exercise because I no longer get the bloating that made breathing so much harder.  However, I have subconsciously learned that going out will cause me problems for the past two years but I am slowly making progress because before when my anxiety would flare so would my stomach issues.  I still get bad anxiety when pushing my limits but no longer have stomach pain or bloating issues.  I normally hang out in the anxiety forum but if you have anxiety chances are you also have digestive issues for about every symptom possible.  It's hard to tell what came first just like the chicken or the egg.
