Does anyone else have physical anxiety symptoms 24/7

Hi. I just wondered if what I'm experiencing is normal. For the past 2-3 months I've had constant anxiety symptoms. I'm not just talking anxious thoughts (although I have those all the time), I'm talking physical symptoms. All day long, I have a horrible tightness in my chest, butterflies in my stomach, dry mouth, internal shaking in my legs and adrenaline rushes up and down my body. I can't control the symptoms, no matter how hard I try. When it first hit, it was different. I had constant nausea & a general feeling of not being able to cope. But I could switch out of it sometimes and feel normal. Now I can never switch out of it. It's there all the time, although the nausea has stopped. I even have it in my sleep because I've actually felt it in my dreams and when I wake up, it's still there. (Not that I can sleep much in this state. 5 hours is the most I ever have.) I'm on Citalopram but if anything, it's made my anxiety worse. The leg symptoms weren't there before I went on the drug and nor was the chest tightness.

I am delighted to hear you don't drink coffee I don't think it helps. Focus on your strengths sometimes stress comes into our lives and we don't realise the effect it's having on our health. We just learn to cope with it but if you find yourself in situations or amongst people that stress you more then avoid them. If your not happy in your work, change your job. Don't let doubt sneak it and say but I wont find another one, create your own world from this day forward and fill it with things and people that make you feel good about yourself and happy within yourself. It won't be an easy ride but if your focus is on achieving good health and a happy life then that is what you will get in time. Good luck and I truly hope things improve for you. x

hi jim, its true what Lynda says when your not busy you get time to think about your anxiety and you don't realise it but your actually feeding it and making it stronger ,judging by what your saying you seem to have a form of social anxiety, do you have a fear of eating in restaurants, travelling on trains, buses, etc, jim I know its scary but your min the early stages and if you don't begin the fight now it will get stronger & you will get weaker, at times you will think your going mad, some times you might have to take different meds before you find the one that works for you and then it can take 4-6 weeks to work properly,

That's the bugbear I have about the anxiety. I'm not able to get my mind off it at any time because the symptoms are there 24/7. They never leave me. So no matter what I do, it's there. If I do get my mind off it, it's only for a few seconds. Not sure what on earth I can do to take my mind off it. Last time I had anxiety I was able to have times when I didn't think about it.

For every time we see our anxiety levels rising we must return our focus to something of a more positive nature. Its not easy when you turn on TV and are bombarded by negative news constantly but we all have a good memory about something. Return to it time and again and remember those feelings because it's not so much your thoughts as your feelings that are pulling you down. It doesn't matter how new or old that memory is it belongs to you and if it makes you feel good think about it often. Don't expect it to be easy and you may well spend a lot of your time correcting your own thoughts but keep at it and the gap widens. Take up a hobby that consumes your mind, like Sudoku or Chess. Knitting's not bad either but you can find yourself knitting I should have said something, or why didn't I.....whatever you choose leave no time for rumination. Write your life story in 4 pages. Read it and see how uplifting that story is. How much negativity was in there? Then write it again from an upbeat perspective, yes tough things have happened but I'm still here and I will go from strength to strength from now on. It takes time but its a journey worth going on. Write your story again for the third time after a period of focus on the positive, place objects in that story that you would love to have such as a particular house, car, woodland, whatever you enjoy and watch your life flourish and get better every day. Some ill health is not curable and most of us have a DNA mutation of some sort but we have to learn to cope with it as it's our inheritance, embrace even the bad things, fear nothing, love yourself more and more each day and seek out happiness. Good Luck x

Hello Folks, I was looking for a Forum with just the problems being aired here! I have been taking a pill called Clopidigrel for about 18 months now, and experienced problems with feeling confused and tired, a constant tickle in my throat, urging me to cough to clear it. At night my cough goes, but my mouth gets very dry, and I get little sleep, waking up after about four hours, then tossing and turning the rest of the night. I also have constant Tinnitus. I spoke to the last Specialist I saw in April. He says I have to go through my GP, when I did that, she said she would have to check with the specialist, then get back to me! Like being on a Roundabout. However, I came off the Clopidogrel, last week, back onto Soluble Aspirin. My GP said to give it three weeks, and see if there are any improvements. At the moment, just extra feeling of anxiousness, but living in hopes of some relief. I am 74yrs old male. Regards Ken

Hi ken, my aunty has a throat issue when she is stressed. Her doctor has called it globus. Pronounced glowbus.. I think my mum suffered something similar. The whole family as far as I can remember back has some sort of anxiety symptom. Myself and cousins also. It's definitely in the family genes. Some of us manage it better than others. my grandmother would disagree and deny any problems exist, yet she is probably the most highly strung person I know. I watch my family and there behaviour and have learnt a great deal from doing this. I call it " what not to do or say " . I tend to have done the opposite to the rest of my family. They are all out there and often behave irrationally at situations. I on the other hand have withdrawn and have a very isolated reclusive life. I don't know which one is worse ???

Good luck ken, speak to your doctor maybe.... Let us all know if you find anything out....

I hope you are feeling well. I was reading a book recently which says the Universe has no concept of negativity and removes from our sentences any trace of it. e.g. I do not want to be fat becomes, I want to be fat. Hey presto that's what you get and the Universe believes that's what your asking for.

So I do not want to have stress and anxiety, or I do not want to be depressed becomes for us the negative as it gives us more of the same. So instead of focusing on what we DON'T want we should focus only on using words that cannot be manipulated and can bring us only positive results.

I don't want to be ill, I will fight this illness all the way, I will win out over this illness are all focused on being ill.

I have a greater sense of well being as each day passes, I am feeling better every day and if you are diagnosed with a particular illness embrace it and make it your friend and the fear of this illness can be reduced. I was once waiting for DNA genetic inheritance results for a condition called Hereditary Hemochromatosis I embraced it and made it my friend whilst together C282Y a genetic mutation and I waited for the results. I took C282Y with me everywhere until my results came through I still introduce him to friends I shared this with at the time as an old friend. Eventually I got my results and had the condition but with only one marker which is better. I do not fear this condition or give it any more of my thoughts except when retesting is done and then it is an old friend come to visit as I refuse to allow fear to dominate me when I can do little or nothing to change the result. I intend to live happily into old age is my mantra and although life throws difficulties at you and some are so hard you cannot help but respond. Allow yourself a little down time before picking yourself up again and focusing on what the future holds for you, you deserve the best and I sincerely hope you all see improvements soon. A poem called I feel love sometimes helps...

    I feel love,

    I feel loved,

    I am loved,

    I am love.

Until you fully understand line one you cannot move to line two and when you move to line two you realise line three and it dawns on you that line four is what you and life are all about. May you feel love today x

A few years ago I had very bad anxiety attacks. It came to the point that I had an attack every 30 minutes!

I even got to the point where I couldn't even leave the house for fear of having an attack

In public. This went on for more than a year until someone recommended a book to

me called Hope and help for the nerves, by Claire Weekes. I highly recommend it to all

anxiety sufferers. I was cured of my anxiety attacks after 3 days. The book explains the

Reason attacks occur and what to do to cure them.
