Does anyone have a post op check?

Hello ladies. I've been reading through some of the recent posts and reading angela's comments today made me wonder just how many ladies have a post op check with their urogynaecologist (not the GP) and if they do when? Ladies who know me know my interest in research and it's something I would like to look into and try and address if I find it's not happening and more importantly why. Financial restraints could be a reason but I could be wrong. I know it's happening in my NHS Trust and naively thought it did everywhere. I'd be grateful if you could help. Many thanks x

Mine does a phone consultation between 12 and 16 weeks post op but if you have problems before that you just phone his secretary . I phoned at 10 weeks post op and he phoned me back the next day , he didn't like what I told him so has said he wants to see me and is sending an appointment out. Think all areas differ so much x

Hi matron, I had my post op check at 6 weeks. This was private so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'll let you know after this repair. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your replies. I've spoken to a friend who is a research nurse in urogynaecology and she's going to help me with this piece of work but in her own time. She said she was aware there were huge differences in aftercare and agrees with me that there should be consistency across all NHS Trusts. Thanks again and anyone else who hasn't responded please do. xx

I had mine at 7 weeks I think, but I was prirate so as you can imagine , I can see her at any point. As I work as a medical secretary in urology I appreciate what others are experiencing with regards to appointments . It's quite difficult to get patients in in their alloted time and sometimes junior drs give unrealI stick targets, which does upset patients

I fully understand about timescales carolyn and I think if patients are forewarned then can be delays they would accept that. We just want all urogynaecologists to offer a post op check before 10-12 weeks at the latest.

Hello Matron. I have a six week post op check next week that was booked on discharge from hospital but I am private! I gave up on the nhs route when whilst waiting for urogynaecologist hospital appointment I was then told the local care commissioning group were only funding ONE outpatient appointment for me, luckily i was able to access a urogynaecologist privately!

Thank you once again for your replies. They are going to really help us with this small piece of research. My friend is already organising letters to various urogynaecology departments in a large number of NHS Trusts as well. I'll keep you all updated.
