I would go back to see someone now. I did suffer that burning pain in my back and it was a nasty infection which put me in hospital for nine days on IV antibiotics. Also cut out as much fat from your diet as you possibly can. But please go see someone sooner rather than later. It can get serious

im getting mixed up with days and times and its those painkillers. but i got a liver function test at the hospital and iv got the box of pain killers they gave me and it say i was there on 27th november 2015 and i did not have an infection then. and i was at the doctor about a week before i went to the hospital and i told them that i had a liver function test at my doctors and the doctor said it will be interesting to compare the one we take tonight with the one the doctor took last week and see if anything has changed. and there did not seem to be any change as they siad i never had an infection. it was a different pain from when i had the infection. as i could not even drink a cup of tea when i had that infection and i thought about phoneing the hospital but i was just to weak and lay in my bed. it was a friday night the pain started and i waited till the monday to go to the doctor and they to the lft and phoned my by the wednesday to tell me my white blood cell count was up and i had an infection and the gave me cefalexin. i have a spare box just in case i feel im in that pain over the xmas period. so surely the visit to the hospital was 12 days ago and no infection and iv had a visit with my gp since then as well. as she phoned me up and asked me to go over. my gp is in my street.so its easy to walk therer in two minutes. thats when she found the hernia. the hernia is right in the same area as my gall bladder. the doctor said that there was some kind of netting hodling everything in and that my gall bladder was probably that inflamed that all the are around there is weak. however i do go back to the gp tonight. i think if your vital signs are ok and your not dying then you are left to get on with it. its terrible. i feel so sorry for myself and cry a lot.its ony natural im only  human. iv had to get out of bed for a pain killer and a cup of tea. is 6.44 and i did not go to bed until 3. 45 am as iv been sleeping all day. the minute i get up the the morning i lie donwn of the settee and have a sleep then i get up for a couple of hours and lie down and sleep again. im so tirend and have not been out much for a while.i drink a lot of tea do you think that can cause problems i mean a lot of tea on cup after the other. i dont drink alcolol or smoke. thanks again for showing concern and i do find it comforting. and im glad to know that other people have the same symptoms.

Think pain killers upset stomach and if you have a hetius, hernier the burning could be acid reflux. Are you in any acid tablets like Omzeprazole pain killers can counteract it as in one ruling out the good of the other. ? If your taking those don't take Ibuprofen and go easy on the Co -codamol. as taking Omzeprazole? I Can understand why your worried but I had gallstones and really small sand like ones There the worst cause more pain and yes alot the pain is really bad with gallbladder problems and all under ribs and across your tummy It's like you can.get doubled over. your very lucky if they can operate so quickly Reason I was in.agony 16 months as they didn't do a ultra sound. all that time until they had put me through countless tests. I had to wait another 3 months to have a keyhole op which was probably one the first as fairly new procedure in 1992, Please don't think your moaning because it's well known gallbladder pain is the mist excruciating.

I agree with the other posts in that you must not suffer in silence . You are not meant to be in permanent , chronic pain . If you are , something isn't right . Most biliary colic episodes will calm down after 5- 7 hours ( in my experiance ) but it can become something else ... Mine devolped into accute colongitus which meant ambulance , IV morphine , lots of other painkillers and about 11 days in hospital .

Im not suggesting that you have this , only that if the pain is terrible then go to a & e , if it's really bad then call an ambulance .

They won't think you are being a nuisance , gallstones are known to be very very painful and not everybody can wait for weeks or months on a waiting list , as they become more ill , more quickly than others .

    Hope you improve soon .

i was only at the hospital emergeny room two  week ago. i have an appointemet tomoro with my doctor. i cant beleive how much pain i am in. i have a spare packet of anti biotics that the doctor gave me incase i got an infection over christmas.i'v not used them. i carreid some shopping and it was two days after that that the burning round my waist started. i only feel that when i get up from lying down. i had terrible pains round my back right ribs as well and the pain killers seem to have helped with that. i dont eat any meat now i only eat soup. and its all organic except the lentils. i'v never suffered from indegestion in my life until i had the first attack in june when i had that infection after a liver function test i do get slight indegestion now and have omeparazole but seldom take them. i only eat small bowls of soup if i do get a bit of indegestion i take the omeprazole but its this constan pain that worries me.when i went to the emergeny room i told them i found a lump and could they examine me standing up but they kept getting me to lie down and the lump dissapreard so i went to the doctor next day and told her and she found the lump and pressed it while i stood up and kept pressing it while she got me to lie down and she felt it dissapear and she said i had a hernia and that it was good that the lump dissapeared when i lie down. i am so gratefull that you all have answered my post and hope its alright if i just answer one as its hard work. typing when your not well. even when i reach to get something out the cupboard i feel the pain. i feel as though my flesh is tearing under neath the skin. thanks for the replies. yes this is a very painfull thing,

    Yes gallstones are very painful.

I was diagnosed in December last year and had to wait till the end of ~April this year to have my gallbladder removed.

They do not consider you an emergency case unless you become jaundiced with it.

I am better than I was with the gallstones though not completely settled down.

So I went back to GP who suggested I had Gastroscopy (camera down my throat).  So I had this on Friday. The result is that I have a Hiatus Hernia.

Apparently it is quite common and they are not planning on doing anything about it. Told me to just keep taking Anit Acid tablets.

Take care and keep in touhc

yes sarah87162 iv not had my op yet but my doctor found a herinia i dont know what a hiatus one is but mine is right next to my gall bladder area and im glad that its been found now before the operation to remove the gallbladder as the doc said they might put a stich in it and some mesh over it. what ever that means. she said it was because all the stomach area is held in by mesh like material and that my gall bladder is probably so enlarged that its tearing easy. so maybe you are the same. what were the symptoms of your hiatus hernia that made you go back to your doctor. was it burning as thats what i'v got. i wish you well sara i hope the fix my hernia as i dont want to be taking antacid tablets for the rest of my life. thanks for your reply and i will keep in touch. 🌹

I was also put on lanzopizole for hernia and acid which gave me terrible burning. The pain was everywhere across my stomach and back and I was so bloated. It felt like everything was backed up and not moving. My stomach was very distended, like 9 months pregnant. I agree what you say that they don't care much once you are on the list but this is a condition that can get so bad so quickly and the pain is hell. I've been on the waiting list since early October. I've had my pre op at the end of November but now I've been told I shouldn't have had that yet because the waiting list is very long. I was given a target date of March. It feels like forever away. Anyway, I know it's not much help other than to know you aren't alone. However, my symptoms are pretty much under control as I type. You shouldn't have to go through so much pain. Take care x

Hi cheeky, I had to go to hospital for a pre operative assessment. They do height, weight, ECG, blood tests, blood pressure and take medical history and note medications. It worries me having this done so far away from surgery because I'm losing a lot of weight due to having to stick to a very low fat diet. A lot can change in three months. It seems rather silly to me. My LFT's are still high also, so I live in the fear of another attack but they don't seem to care. It could be worse I suppose. Living in fear of the pain is not as bad as suffering it. All I'm left with is a stitch like pain which is uncomfortable but not agony. Anyway, do let us know how you get on. I really hope you get on top of this pain. X

hi lisa yes i know what that stich like pain is iv still got that but not to bad its like getting a stich in your side if you'v been running. but its not in your side it under the right rib.when  i went to the emergency dept at the hospital my blood pressure was 199/101 i was shocked and then a few days later my blood pressure was down to 142/78 a year ago i'v also had one of those monitors that i had to wear for 24 hours and it came out 142/ i cant remeber the bottom half so i never got any medication.i told my doctor that i was worried about the blood pressure and she said even if it was 166/ 90 they would still operate she said she has put me forward for emergency surgery. but the thing is im not yellow my stools are normal colour,my lLFT is fine now. so i dont think they will take me early as there is peole who look worse but may not be in such pain. my doctor gave me stronger pain kilers today and i feel in less pain.also i lost a stone in 3 weeks. iv eaten nothing in 2 days. i usually just make soup constantly or porridge.i am definately going to phone bupa tomoro as i cant take this pain and i am going to find out how much it cost to go private. as what good are my savings if im in agony and i was until i got those pain killers tonight but im still going to go private if i have enough money.as i dont want to take pain killers because i might be rough with myself as the pain is dulled. and do more damage. i want this over and done with.iv not washed my hair it must be over a month as i was to painfull to bend down and have had to have body washes at the sink as im to scared to get in that bath incase i cant get out again. and using dry shampoo that you spray on your hair and comb it through.im going to phone bupa tomoro and tell you the cost. and how it all works.thanks for getting back to me and telling me about the pre operative assesment.🌹

My symptoms are stomach pain particularly after eating and first thing in the morning. I also have pain in my right side and back passage.

I  think the right sided pain is to do with the hernia. I am short so I feel it when I am stretching up to reach things.

Hi Cheeky how are you getting on?  I have the pain under right side ribs, this came and went, but then got pain lower back upper back and right shoulder which was not so sharp but bad.   Was told by doctor that the back pain was just arthritis or rheumatism, but strange it is so bad and came at same time, so dont agree. Am waiting for referral to hospital.  Other symptoms are feeling very cold, gone off food, depressed, cough.  The pain lower ribs is bad sometimes when bending down, stretchng etc.  Also have an underactive thyroid.
