Have any of you thought of changing your diet to help with this? Cut out fats, cut out protein, eat a lot more vegetables. It helps. So does lemon juice, but it must be fresh not processed and bottled, also beetroots and beetroot juice are good.

I have changed my diet completely and have minimum fat, lots of vegetables and fluids. I have got multiple mobile stones, sludge, enlarged gallbladder, and an inflamed bile duct all diagnosed by MRI and ultrasound. I still have abnormal LFT's. The diet is keeping on top of the pain but I am still getting a stitch under the ribs and I'm periodically spiking a temperature. I can't wait to get rid of my gallbladder but yes, diet definitely helps with controlling the pain.

Cheeky, I am glad you are getting on top of the pain a little. The NHS figures (I don't know if you are uk) are around £5000 for a gallbladder op. I don't know if it will increase if surgery is more complex. I think it's terrible in this modern age to have to wait so long. I understand there is clinical priority but surely putting off surgery is more costly in the long run because of having to meet the cost of treating the symptoms and it seems many people return to hospital as emergency while they are waiting for surgery.

hi lisa and everyone, yes im in the uk and was absoluletey shocked when i got the price for private surgery for gallbladder removal. its £250 for the constultaion and £4.790 (thousand) for the gall bladder removal and if i want the hernia fixed its £7.439. yes thats seven thousand 4hundred and 39pounds,i nearly called them robbers. because i know that its nhs doctors who perfom thos private ops and thats probably why our waiting list is so long they are to f ing busy working on private patients. i can assure you my pain levels are very bad today it must be affected by emotions as well. as i had a burst pipe in the toilet last night and had to use nearly every towel in my house to dry it up and go down to warn the neighbour as the water was running down his bedroom wall.so i feel so bad today, its 1.49am and this is the first time i'v been online today as i'v felt so much distress and knowing i cant afford all that money to go private  has really upset me. i woke up last night at 4.30am as i was so upset about the bathroom floor and having to get the plumber in, so its the emotions as well i think. i only really eat soup and its all organci except the lentils. i went 3 days with no food at all. i did have a little porridge today and that was ok i find the pain gets worse as the day goes on.

carmel your right its not artheritis as iv got the same pain round my waist.and that pain in back passage as if i need the toilet but cant do it. it all relates to the liver.they will blame everything on the gall bladder now,

carmel no wonder you are depressed this pain would make anyone depressed. i get the stomach pain in the morning after i have a cup of tea but i take a buscopan and it goes away. but the gall bladder under my right rib seems to get worse as the day goes on especially if i eat. also that receptionist said at bupa that as xmas was coming up it would be likely to be january  unless i could get the results of my scan from my gp. then they wouldnt have to scan me. i said would it cost me less if you didnt have to scan me and she said no. then she said its not our fault youv had a scan i said its not mine either. you will know why im called cheeky as i said is that not stealing? if your charging me for a part of the package that i wont get. i knew i wasnt going to give her all that money any way so i didnt mind what i said. and she was very young and spoke at the speed of light i had to keep asking her to repeat herself,i will just have to do what everyone else is doing and take this a day at a time.im so very upset, keep in touch andi will do the same if there is any change, godbless everyone. goodnight, 🌹

Hi cheeky I feel your pain and frustration I really do. I just found out that my consultant also works privately and some operations he carries out at my hospital in NHS theatres. Private patients then get a private room in the NHS hospital. Presumably using NHS nurses? No wonder his list is so long but I'm concerned at being told that waiting lists are based on clinical need. I wouldn't be happy to discover private patients were jumping the que whilst being treated in an NHS hospital. That's not good for the NHS.

The other thing I'm going to visit my gp about next week is, I wasn't given an option to choose where I get my op done. There is another hospital local to me and according to NHS choices, has an average wait of 6 weeks compared to 13 at the one I'm on the list for. Same department. I'm already 8 weeks on the list with no date as yet but possibly waiting until March. I'm caught between a rock and a hard place this far into the list. But to think I could have had my surgery by now being treated elsewhere is almost too much to bear!!! It's so frustrating isn't it?

Anyway cheeky. I know it doesn't help much but you aren't alone. X

yes lisa it helps so much that im not alone. its disgusting isnt it that nhs doctors are the ones who treat the private patients. of course private patients are jumping the queue. thats why they go private.so that they dont have to wait. its a disgrace.and this is such a painful thing to suffer from. and christmas is coming up also so there will probably be no operations until after the new year. im just so glad i got those stronger pain killers.as yesterday i had an appetitie and i ate a microwave meal its was chili con carne and rice, and i never even got indegestion, i really was taking a chance there but i was feeling starving and glad to be hungry. i wont do that again but i was very lucky not to get indegestion, its a strange illness this gall bladder thing as i'v never really suffered from indegstion in my life. the first thing that brought me to realize i had a gall sone was terrible pain in urq and could not walk for two days or drink a cup of tea. it started in the early hours of a friday morning and it was monday before i could drink a cup of tea. and get to doctor and LFT  showed up elevated liver enzyms and white blood cells rising and that means infection. and ever since them it has been relentless.nothing but suffering.its so depressing and upseting and then hearing how people after they get the op are still ill. is there any hope. my gp said she has had her gall bladder out and she is well and i ment another woman in supermarket she gave me big hug and told me she had hers out and no problems. but its the pain the pain is terrible and debilitating.keep in touch lisa as i love to hear from you it does help to know that im not alone. i love to hear from you it lifts my spirits even although i know we are all upset. god bless you dear lisa.🙏🌹🌺

No problem cheeky. We are in this together. I've had an odd week myself with my temperature spiking and I turned red on Buscopan so that's why I'm off to docs next week. I still get the stitch under my ribs and sometimes a sharp pain. It's not ideal. Everyone I've spoken to in real life who has had their gallbladder out has said it's changed their life. So that's good. Hopefully we can look back on this soon and move forward rather than living ground hog day. I'm surprised how many people have had it done. I didn't realise how common it is. Anyway cheeky, I hope you have a good day today and manage to eat some more. I am thinking about you too. Take care x

Is it worth trying beetroot juice? It is supposed to be great for the liver. I know you can get it from holland and barret and other places too where it is greatly intensitified.  Surely the liver is the one organ of the body that repairs itself so if you treat it right it gets better?

The specific raised LFT results are as a result of inflammation of the gallbladder or bile duct only. At least that is what the doctor told me.

hi lisa. thats nice of you to think about me. yes im ok pain wise. i can still feel that stich and feel a bit tender but nothing like it was. my only problem not is im sleeping nearly all day. i dont know if its the pain killers.iv got an appetite again and thats good as i worry when i loose a lot of weight so fast. i'v no indegestion although sometimes i take the buscopan for cramps. i know you cant take it as it makes you red. its strange how we all react differently. i was so please to get your post asking how i was. its nice to know that someone is thinking about me lisa thanks ever so much. i will keep in touch. love cheeky.😄🌹🌻

Hi cheeky, I'm glad you are doing OK at the minute and you are eating. I hope you do not have to wait much longer. I'm off to the nurse practitioner tomorrow about seeing if there is anything else I can have instead of Buscopan and I'm hoping she will be able to see how the waiting list is going. Take care x

yes lisa sorry i meant to ask you about that. im sure there is something called colofac but im not a doctor so i hope you get something as those cramps are painfull. i do know there are others but they might have the same ingrediant that is in buscopan that makes you red.so you are doing the right thing asking the nurse. or gp. please let me know how you get on. and thanks again for keeping in touch with me it cheers me up so much, 🌹🌹🌹
