Does LS necessarily have to cause itchiness?

I was diagnosed with Vulvar LS two years ago after a biopsy. Was given Clobedasol cream and ointment. Symptoms haven't been too noticeable over the two years until now.
The thing is that I'm not experiencing any itchiness, rather just mild soreness and some pain
I'm thinking maybe I have something very serious going on and am quite worried. I'm going to my regular doctor in a few days.
I wondered has anyone had a flare up minus the itchiness? By the way I'm in my 60's.

I've never had an itch-- just miserable buring pain. I've been suffering terribly for the last 6 months. My anus burns, and sometimes I cannot sit down comfortably. Ive seen two gynecologist s, a dermatologist, and my PP without success. Recently I found another dermatologist, but this time he had answers, thank God. I'm waiting for biopsy results, but doc is pretty confident its LS. Since I've been misdiagnosed for the past 6 months I've already lost pigmentation, and suffer from thined skin. Ive been using Rx Protopic for 1.5 weeks , but no relief. I'm terrified. I have hypothyroid disease, and I was badly burnt by a suntan bed (hospitalized) 30 years ago, so I guess its not surprising that I have acquired this horrific disease.

Hi,
May I ask what you were initially diagnosed with, if anything? Will this be your first biopsy?
Yes it sounds like a case of LS. Do you have any kind of actual 'pain' in addition to the burning. Ive been experiencing the odd shooting pain and that has me worried. Ive had a biopsy 2 yrs ago and was diagnosed with LS but have never bad shooting pains before. They are very infrequent but still have me concerned. I have no itching at all but mild burning.

Hi Carol, the first gyno said yeast, the second gyno ageed but I demanded the test which came back negitive. My PP had no idea, and the first dermatologist said it was herpes. I knew that was bogus-- married 25 years, rash not blisters, and herpes doesn't lay dormant 30 years. I left her office in tears, because I felt hopeless. My current dermatologist was visibly upset when I told him about previous diagnosis', and said something like "that doesn't even make sense"? This is my first biopsy, and I'll get my results next week. My doc left for vacation, so I have to wait.... I can't seem to catch a break.

Oops, I forgot to address your question about the shooting pains. I've had what felt like electric shocks in my buttocks. It lasted nearly a month too, but now I just (I say that lightly) have the burning rash.

Hi Carol
I have LS diagnosed 12 months ago I'm 55 went through the menopause at 52. My mother had this disease but only found out talking to my sister.
I haven't itched at all but sore and occasional shooting pains. The labia is disappearing it doesn't fuse just seems to melt back into my body.
Worried about how to stop the disappearance. I use dermovate maintenance, baking soda baths, diet, sugar and dairy, emuaide and estriol cream. I'm in the uk Mr Manchester. Have asked about the Mona Lisa touch but met with blank faces.
Would consider going to Italy if things get desperate. Hope this helps.
