Does this look like lichen sclerosus? Pictures

I posted in another forum and someone suggested I ask here. I've been feeling uncomfortable and when I looked, I noticed these white bumps in different parts of my vulva. I've noticed some before but they seem to be more pronounced and in more places. I also seem to be much dryer than usual.

Does this look like lichen sclerosus to those that have it? I can't see a doctor until the end of May and I'm very anxious about this. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I was diagnosed with this a few months ago after YEARS of going to drs with painful sex. It started in my late 30’s and I was told I was in peri- menopause. I had a biopsy done which confirmed the diagnosis and was negative for cancer. The itching and tearing of the skin is awful. I was given a topical antibiotic. My case is so advanced that the scaring has caused my clitorus to be completely covered and was actually told I have no clitorus anymore and my vaginal opening has scarred over so much that my gyno could hardly fit 2 cotton swabs in. My husband and I have not been able to have sexual intercourse for years. He was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and can no longer obtain an erection after his treatments. So we both have an understanding of what each is dealing with. It doesn’t make it any easier, I know there are other ways of giving pleasure, but I miss the intimacy of actual intercourse.

Oh, I am almost 60 yrs old, so that’s how long it took me to be diagnosed. Best of luck to anyone that is living with this awful condition.

Those look like fordyce spots. If you don’t have any pain, burning, itching or growth, I wouldn’t worry. We have a tendency to worry ahead of time. I hope you are well and healthy. By the way, LS tends to cause painful cuts, bruises and thinning, whitening of the skin.

I just saw mine down there and I was shocked by how it looks! I have to see it in the mirror because I've been suffering from too much itch and I'm not happy with what I saw. My entire major labia or where my hair grows and some part of my thigh is abnormally "white", skin is wrinkled and old looking it's uglier and there are a few red spots too. It's too itchy i can't help but scratch, which only makes it worst, to a point it bleeds. I'm not sure if this has something to do with what I'm going through for over a month now, I've been having spotting/bleeding and I'm really scared and Worried. I still haven't see a doctor because I'm scared and too shy she/he look at my V. By the way, I just turned 33 and a VIRGIN. I know I gained a lot of weigh these past 2 years, I'm nit sure if I'm having hormonal imbalance or if I am already at menopausal stage at my age!

      HI,

so sorry you have to go thru this, it's not fun. It does sound like you have lichen sclerosus. I was finally diagnosed in March of this year, after dealing with it for about 15 years. Going from dr to dr. All I was ever told was that I was in peri-menopause and that my skin was thinning and looking like the skin on a older person's hand like when you can see how thin the skin is and you can see their veins thru their skin. Sex was so painful. Ihad a biopsy done which was negative for cancer. I was given a prescription for a cream that had to be mixed by a pharmacist. This year the itching got so bad that I couldn't stand it, so I went to see a new dr. She took one look at it and told me immediately what it was. Lichen sclerosus. A biopsy was done which confirmed it. I have been given a prescription for a topical steroid cream. I had tried different things that Isaw on the internet but nothing helped. I have no clitoris any more, and my vaginal opening is almost closed.

I just had a breakout on my buttocks, which I was surprised because I didn't know it could happen there, but with some research found out it could, and a recent dr appointment confirmed it. You need to get to a dr to get a diagnosis so they can help you. I have been dealing with this since my early 40's and I'll be 60 this friday.

I tried to post pictures, but can't figure out how to do it. Good luck, and get to a dr, so you can be treated.

hey I'm 27 yrs old and noticed this last year when i was pregnant. it would itch so badly i couldn't sleep at night and my obgyn said it was just hormones causing it. i was wondering for a biopsy did you go to an obgyn or a dermatologist? is it a cotton swab or do they cut a piece out? my spots stay there but the itchiness comes and goes. im also prone to yeast infections but sometimes when i think i have one ill go get tested for yeast and itll be negative. anyways thanks for info

You need to have a biopsy through your obgyn. I think they cut a piece out, but it doesn't hurt. I'm 68 years old and was told it was lichen sclerosus and there's nothing that can be done and they don't know what the cause is; great huh! I've had it for about 3-4 years or so. I use an ointment (prescribed by my doctor) called Clobetasol. You can buy at Costco pharmacy. My daughter (42) has the same thing as you; itch at night. She uses some kind of ointment, also.
