Does this sound like MAV

Hi

I've been having these symptoms since July 2015.  I saw and ENT who specializes in dizziness, and still have to get my testing done but he believes it vestibul migraine or MAV.  The symptoms i'm having are rocking and swaying sensation most of the time I would say 95% of my day, everyday, i have it when i sit, stand, lay down, i've also noticed when i'm in traffic i can't tolerate the cars moving in front of me, can't watch tv shows that have fast movement or look at my phone while scrolling have to scroll slowly, nausea, depression, anxiety, fear, don't like it so much in big stores, when i walk and turn a corner i feel like i'll fall, floor feels like its moving when i walk, feel like i'm sinking when i sit down, feel like i;m being push forward sometimes when i walk, can't concentrate, memory off, vision wierd alot, slight headache and neck pain alot of this when i have a vertigo attack.  Does this sound right?

Last night i had a bad attack, started when i got home, felt off balance like usual, went to my psychologist office felt swaying there and got back home and eating dinner and sudden awfull dizzienss, with slight headache and neck pain, had to put ice and heat on neck, lay down, turn off the lights and the volume way down on the tv.  I feel alseep and this morning having anxiety.  When i got to work and sat down I felt like the room was swaying, took a 1/2 of a .25 xanax cause thats all i have, i had to get calmed down.  When i left for work i was crying, so i had to get calmed.

I have been reading about this and it sounds like it never goes away, this has me worried to the extreme.  I'm scared to death to have this, the dizzienss just frightens me so much.

Can anyone help.

THanks

Hello patty....I too have the same exact symptoms you do and have been to 2 ENT doctors and had all kinds of tests done and they both ruled out anything wrong with my ears or vestibular function. I also had n MRI done back in august and all normal there but yet I still have dizziness everyday especially while walking feels like I am off balance and that I am floating and gonna fall over. It worse when walking but still have dizziness while standing to do dishes or even cooking. I don't know what else to do anymore and here lately my head and hand has been shaking like I have tremors or something. Oh and I was also diagnosed with anxiety over 2 months ago. Any suggestions ?

Hello Lisa....I sympathize with you with the dizziness and just having anxiety . my dizziness has been non stop for almost 2 years and doctors can't find anything wrong just that it sounds like anxiety. I am wondering if I should see another ear doctor because I feel off balance and like I am floating when I walk. I have been out of work for almost 2 years and I wanna work again but can't with this dizziness. I have been taking Zoloft for almost 2 months now and don't have as many anxiety attacks its just the dizziness that's still there. I don't know what else to do.

Hello again Lisa....I am in the united states. I have filed for disability but not sure if I can get it . its a long process and you have to see several doctors before there is any chance of getting anything . I was instructed by my Dr to see a psychiatrist but just don't have the money to go right now it not cheap . I hope u feel better and talk to a lawyer about filing for benefits .

Have you considered that it might be Vertical Heterphoria?

    Hello,

The symptoms you describe are exactly the same as I have had since I was a young child, I am now 46. It has taken me the last 16 years to get an answer, and even that I had to fight tooth and nail for, as I have many overlapping problems that each carry similar symptoms, mimicking each other and so confusing the Doc's trying to get an answer.

You are lucky, in one way, that you may have hit directly on your answer and so early on in your symptoms - It very much sounds as if you have... MIGRAINE WITH VERTIGO. But, you must see a specialist to get a diagnosis - although, even then, it's 'best guess' as they still don't truly know the answer.

There are various meds to help with subduing the dizziness which is usually attacked by treating the migraine - even though you may think you might not have a headache, as such. It's trial and error, and I don't like meds - certainly not for the rest of my life. Flunarizine, propranolol etc, even botox. They all have side effects and some make you feel like a zombie or worse.

Try not to panic - it will only make it worse - I know it's hard when the world is spinning or you feel like you're walking on a bouncy castle, drunk, onboard a cruise ship. Time and acceptance are your friends - but hard won.

I use propranolol, as it is widely used by millions for high blood pressure, slow release 80mg a day and that is it... It could slow your symptoms enough for you to function and manage your life without destroying it in the process.

All the very best to you - hope you find some relief or even a cure. Good luck!
