Anyone had one of these?   Its an alternative to a fentons procedure and is designed to sort out that bit of skin at the entrance to the vagina which keeps splitting.

I am going in on Friday to have it done.....   i have had to wait since I saw the surgeon in October, but although i am nervous, I am hopeful.

I already cannot have sex, how much worse could it get?

will let you all know how it goes.....

xx G

Hi I was just wondering how you got on?  I am also having this procedure in 4 weeks.  It is going to be an interesting Xmas!  How did it go?  What did you use for aftercare?  Any suggestions?  I have had LS sine 2010 and have tried everything like most people who have this bloody disorder.  Fusing bad hence surgery required.  I cannot use steroids for the itch as it makes it worse and they in turn give me Candida vicious circle.  Currently using oestrogen and Collodial Silver to ease that.  Haven’t tried borax or bicarbonate but was thinking of them for after surgery.  Did they give you antibiotics and painkillers?  Any advice appreciated.  I have a train journey and a plane to catch 48hrs after I have procedure to get home so worried about that too.

Thank you all for your shared experience??

Suggest you ask for a present of  a donut cushion to sit on for a week or so after the op!   You won't be riding a bike for a few weeks, but 4 weeks after my op I was doing yoga and trampolining.    5 weeks and all the stitches and itching were gone.    The itching from the stitches was quite fierce, but sitting in a warm bath with bicarbonate of soda in it really helped.    Buy a kilo of bicarb off the net.....  before the op.  Borax is supposed to be good for the candida,  I certainly have no signs of it anymore.     You shouldn't need antibiotics afterwards and I didn't need painkillers...   A bit itchy and sore, but had had worse when the LS has been bad.   i travelled in a car for about 3 hours  in the afternoon after having had the op in the morning.    You won't want to be sitting bolt upright but if you can get the chair into recline, you should be ok.....    though I did resort to the donut cushion. for the first 10 days..        How far do you have to travel?     Make sure you rest before you do the jourrney  and wear a long skirt, not trousers.   Good luck.,  and if it's Doctor Medd who does it, tell her you heard of her through the forum from one very happy patient of hers.

      Hi Neldog

Thanks for all your information.  I will buy a cushion etc online today!  I am having the op in Plymouth too but not with the same Dr.  I have a 3hr train trip, followed by a taxi and then plane journey after that so about 8-9 hrs on the go prior to getting home.  I am worried about the stinging when going to the toilet too.  Thanks again for your help 👍🌸x

i was worried about stinging after going to the loo, but had none at all.      i got a tny bit constipated for a day after the op and that was scary, but then i remembered to drink plenty and then use psillium  husks for roughage.

to be able to walk around and not be sore or constantly splitting  as i was before the op, is fabulous.

The nine hour journey will tire you out due to the anaesthetic, donT go home and cook christmas dinner......  is there anyone to wait on you?

i arranged a week at a yoga retreat for 4 week after the op.    At that point i couldnT ride a bike, but  was ok doing most other stuff and a week of just relaxing in the sun did me a lot of good.

      Good Luck.    Xx

      Hi Amanda,

I've been trying to find out more about this op for some time. I know that Dr Frappell has now retired so wanted to find out from you who the Dr. was at Plymouth who'd be doing your op? I've had LS for about 10 years which has done a lot of damage.

Hope everything went well for you if you've had the op already and you've made a good recovery.

Saw Dr Ellie Medd today who confirmed I’m healing well although wound still slightly open, more antibiotics but feel I am nearing the end of this horrendous journey.

Hi, I've just come across your discussion, I'm due to have this operation in due course as I haven't had intercourse with my husband in years and only found out I could have something done about it at the end of last year when I couldn't have a smear because of the pain.

I'm in Cornwall and have found the info from Dr Frappell, my operation will be at Truro Hosp. No one tells you that your hymen ring can stiffen and shrink as you get older, even moreso if you haven't had children to stretch it all. They are doing a hysteroscopy at the same time as I'm perimenopausal and have fibroids.

Did you have a general anaesthetic with it or local?

Not to be too nosy but are you able to have successful intercourse now?

Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.x

Hiya, I’m now 3 months post op and although my healing took longer than normal it’s the best thing I’ve done! No pain at all during sex and no splitting skin. Hope all goes well for you. Highly recommend taking laxido afterwards as going for number 2 was difficult.

Thanks for replying. I'd never heard of this before now and there doesn't seem to be much online about it either.

I had my gallbladder out last year so all of this has all come as a bit of a shock to have surgery again as I'm having problems since.

Glad its gone well for you, fingers crossed it will for me too.
