Dry flaky scalp

Im just wondering if anyone has had issues with dry flaky skin on their scalp since peri or menopause.

My head gets a crawling sensation under the skin, sometimes a burning sensitive sensation, and I have bad dry areas that are flaking.

I had dandruff in my younger years but have had a clear scalp for ages.

My scalp was getting sensitive to hair colour so I’ve stopped salon visits and don’t use hair dye now.

Has anyone else experienced similar? Sometimes anxiety causes a similar sensation on my scalp.

Yes, I also reacted to hair dye a few months ago, with dry flaky, itchy scalp, i was told it was dermatitis so I bought head & shoulders, best shampoo ever! Got rid of it and if I feel anything I use it until it goes away.

      Hi Sochima,

Thanks for replying, it's not great to experience the reaction to hair dye.

Which head and shoulders did you use?  Was it kind on your hair? I have dry, damaged hair, it needs a lot of TLC.  I've been wondering about Head and Shoulders.

Hi wannabenormal, there are so many new formulas of Head and Shoulders now, I think I got the one with coconut oil or some type of moisturizer. Yet, my hair wasn't bad at all after washing it.

Wannabe, my pharmacist told me to use moisturizer only on the ends of my hair only until the dermatitis or the flaking went away then I could use it on top. This is how use delt with my hair if I felt it was too dry. Perhaps you can do the same?

      Hi Sochima,

Thanks for that, I’ll try that and see what happens.  I’m using A’kin for sensitive scalps at present...fingers crossed.

i can’t find edit button either?
