Hi. Anyone suffer from ectopics? Mine started 3 yrs ago when i was pregnant and are getting worse. Had ecgs...48 hr ecg ( which of course only showed a couple) echo and ct angiogram which im waiting the results for but wanted to know how many is normal? For the last 5 days have been really bad and tonight in the space of an hour as i counted them i had 16..just so typical that when i had my 48 hr ecg a few weeks back i was having a good few days so of course the cardiologist said all looked normal. Just wondered if people suffered with these and what the outcome has been? Its really getting to me and worrying me now. THANKS.

Yes, I knew the skin was an organ when I was about 12 then completely forgot that until a few months ago when there was a programme about skin on the tv.

In that context being careful what you do with it is sensible advice.

Yuka sounds interesting. I suspect we all have a list of things we shouldn't be eating but either don't know it in the first place or they are hidden in the mass of ingredients.

I also suspect that tolerance changes over time. I had been eating dried apricots for years but one day was sick after eating them and we traced it back to the sulphur. Which brings us back to skin, things change, and like all organs they are less tolerant of abuse as we get older, so creams, sun tan lotions, even soaps all need to be considered.

      Hello Tony,

Now that you mentioned dried apricots, one thing worth mentioning is the fact that sugar is detrimental to our heart health maybe more so than cholesterol. Excluding it from our diet will have a good effect on our health. Of course, mostly am talking about added sugar, but dried fruits as well, as when they are dried they have more sugar content.

Me, personally, am sticking with berries in general, either frozen or raw. But I do also consume kiwi, watermelon, melon, maybe, sometimes even apples and bananas.

But what comes off a superstore shelf I check to be as minimally processed as possible and to not have sugar in the ingredients list.

I would advice to come off it and see how you feel after a month or so, off it. You might be surprised.

      Regards,

      Adrian

    hello.

I am currently in the same boat..

I've had ecgs come back normal... but didn't have the ectopics during the check which is really really frustrating...

I had covid back in July this year then the 1st September I had pfizer vaccine.. I have been having so many since the vaccine.. coincidence? I'm not sure. apparently its quite common..

I also wake up in the middle of the night with a racing heart sometimes which is horrible..

    I hope you are ok..

Hi there, I am 37 and have suffered from these ectopic beats for over 2 years now.

I have bigeminy and trigeminy beats with SVT and tachy/brady syndrome.

I have Muscular dystrophy and they recently gave me an ablation to try and stop the extra beats because I am so symptomatic but so far it hasn't worked, early days though so fingers crossed it might settle, if not, they are going to try again.

they said I can't be left with them as it could lead to cardiomyopathy ( enlarged heart )

my last tape recorded 54,580 ectopic beats in a 24 hour period which is excessive. I can always feel them, they are always there either annoying or scary and booming.

they effect my pulse usually over 110 with episodes in-between beats of 50 or below. it is hard to deal with day and night. I do find certain positions are worse or having a bloated stomach, feeling unwell or tired makes me feel worse with them and life is generally like living in hell with them.

I hope the next ablation works as meds don't seem to help so much. I am on beta blocker called atenolol which calms them a little but not enough to feel well at all.

time will tell ! I hope you are all doing OK, your definitely not alone xxx

I do have bad anxiety but ive alwaya had it (long before getting pregnant) and never had them. Have you had your hormones checked?? that is next on my list good luck and i hope everything goes well!

Has anyone ever had PVC or PAC and they disappeared and never come back ? I have read most of the discussions and it seems they always come back ...people had it for years and it is been on and off for years...

So here I am again, over 6 years later from my original post that I created 'ectopic beats everyday '

Yes I still get the ectopics but here is my problem...I now also get them when I go to bed...I lie on my side as can't lay flat on my back...and literally get them every 10 mins through the night...so my sleep is effected and I can't function properly...it's like everytime i drop off someone poking me to wake up...I can't stand it anymore..

Once I sit up and don't try and sleep they will disappear...but as soon as I lay back down and start to drop off they start all over again. like I say I cannot sleep on my back so what can I do? I'm so so tired and fed up as this is the worst it's been...6 nights in a row of ectopics whilst trying to sleep. I do get them in the day too but not as frequent as the night time ones...they feel more forceful too..

if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get a decent night's sleep it would be greatly appreciated 😴 👍 thanks. Emily.

      Emily

I have just reread this long thread once again. It is difficult to know if anyone is ever completely cured because if they were they would have no reason to come back to this thread!

I remember reading you were taking magnesium tablets, stopped then started again. Are you currently taking them now or decided they don't really work?

I also remember reading you had not heard of the vagus nerve. It is very long and seems to play a key role. if it has been damaged or upset then it is likely to have an effect elsewhere in the body including the heart.

Can I suggest you look up "tonal stimulation of the vagus nerve."

Basically humming along to a tune you know for five minutes, burping, coughing, all help

If you have a internal bathroom there will be a fan. That seems to be at the perfect tone and loudness to enable you to hum along without anyone else hearing you!

Deep breathing also helps and some people seem to have been helped by yoga in carrying out soothing breathing exercises and reducing anxiety

If I can ask, over the 6 years, how did the frequency fluctuate? were there years you got very little or got a lot then it simmered down?

      Hi Emily,

Great to see you back. Try sleeping on your right side. The reason is that if you sleep on your left the ventricle empties easier so that when you get the adjusting beat it has more to fill and you notice it. When you sit up they don't disappear its just that you don't notice them as the ventricle stays full.

I changed my diet drastically and I don't notice my beats now though I am sure they are till there. I was at times missing a beat every second beat and knew something had to be done. I now make sure I eat a lot of vegetables, some chicken, fruit and oats. I also take Magnesium Chelate but in the morning as my dinner is full of magnesium so I spread it out. I can go for quite some time and only notice about 3 missed beats a day, except if I am walking I may get more.

I've only just seen this...sorry for delay.

no, they've always been there, some months worse than others...tbh...the older I get the more frequent they seem. especially the night ones. never used to get them whilst sleeping but I do now a lot.

Just wanted to add to my previous post.

    1. I have bought some magnesium complex tablets and taking them now. Although the intensity of the ectopics is lower it's too early to say if they are making any difference.
    2. I have a home heart ECG device linked to my mobile. That's how I discovered the ectopics which for me show as a large (but otherwise normal looking, to me anyway) pulse one third of the way between beats. Wrist pules feels as if there is a missing beat but maybe it's the blood pausing. Interestingly I do have the occasional unwell feeling and a little foggy or dizzy spells and wonder if they are related. I am also concentrating on my diet to maximise magnesium intake naturally.

Any input on these points appreciated to help all and affected victims of this disturbing problem. Thanks.
