Ectopic beats everyday

Hi. Anyone suffer from ectopics? Mine started 3 yrs ago when i was pregnant and are getting worse. Had ecgs...48 hr ecg ( which of course only showed a couple) echo and ct angiogram which im waiting the results for but wanted to know how many is normal? For the last 5 days have been really bad and tonight in the space of an hour as i counted them i had 16..just so typical that when i had my 48 hr ecg a few weeks back i was having a good few days so of course the cardiologist said all looked normal. Just wondered if people suffered with these and what the outcome has been? Its really getting to me and worrying me now. THANKS.

    Hey Guys!

I have been having ectopic beats for the past 20 years or so mostly stress induced, and they usually come and go.

I have learnt to live with them and I know they won't kill me... so far.

I have been going through a rough time in the past few weeks and my ectopic beats flared up big time.

I do not get them much during the day, but as soon as I lay down and drifting away they come on and seriously every second beat is an ectopic beat.

It is driving me crazy cause I cannot sleep. I have lost a lot of weight and had some stomach issues due to stress, so not sure what is going on, but this out of control.

    Has anyone experienced the same?

    Any advice is much appreciated!

    Cheers, Pete

    Hi Pete

Check out the 'vagus nerve'. It seems stomach disorders coupled with anxiety are classic causes of ectopics. Do google the Vagus nerve and you might find 'tonal stimulation' will help (basically 'Humming' as that stimulates the nerve.)

You no doubt have checked out all the comments on this thread-if not its worth doing so, as you will find many in a similar position to you and they come up with things to avoid or try, and food and drinks likely to set you off.

However there is an underlying need to cure the stomach problem which might be due to a change of diet, More fast food, eating vegan, not enough fresh fruit etc.?

    Natalie

Interesting, a lot of women here say they first got them whilst pregnant or it made them worse, so wonder if Hormones have anything to do with it or perhaps mineral deficiencies?

I had this once or twice a month for years then passed out two years ago after a flutter. Hit head and blacked out, went to hospital and kept in for two nights with all tests. Then went to Papworth for ablation. Surgeon who was about to perform op said why was I here and sent me home and had MRI, echo and exercise test later. Was told EV bottom of normal and two years later a test again and virtually the same. He said nothing to worry about yet for the last month they are more or less continuous after being fine 99% of the day for months. It feels like they slow down to half the rate 4-10 beats then normal. Worse at night and when lying down. Difficult these days not to look online and am sure specialist is right but seen reports that pvc's can lead to heart failure and strokes later!

    Hi All,

I have just started having Ectopic Beats since last Saturday.

i have been to A&E and was told my bloods and ECG are normal.

I have been doing lots of research over the last few days and came across Gastrocardiac Syndrome.

It is very interesting as one of the treatments is magnesium so really interesting to see that worked for some of you.

Last night i was having the Ectopic Beats alot. I had a glass of wine with my tea and then i took omeprazole and i didn't have any Ectopic Beats. Either the wine calmed me down or the omeprazole sorted my stomach.

Have any of you notice increase in stomach acid / reflux when you are having a bad time with the Ectopic Beats?

    Have a read of this.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roemheld_syndrome

Will be really interesting to see.

    Hey all,

Ectopic beat sufferer here. Just had a very very strong one tonight, and it was also painful. This is my first time experiencing a painful ectopic, and I immediately started panicking. It felt like being jabbed strongly in the chest, that kind of pain. Has anyone else had pain with their ectopics? Thinking about making an appointment with a cardiologist, because this was very scary.

So guys I'm back here again. 1.24am and can't sleep as my monthly run of ectopic beats have arrived to deprive me of sleep for the next few nights 🙃 😴

I have some theories and would be interested if anyone else gets the same. I suffer with acid/indigestion...especially tonight....could this be linked?

And I suffer with them most days but once a month, I go through a few days and nights where they are really bad, and stop me sleeping. usually a week or so before my period? could this also be linked?

Have to say the last couple of nights have been really bothersome and feel more horrible than normal.

I currently take bisoprolol 1.25...can't say they do much apart from slightly lower my heart rate...

Just looking for some tips that anyone has that they have found ease them...please....just need sleep...can kind of cope with them in the day but night time and laying down they seem a lot worse.

By the way, I'm so glad my original post from 6 years ago has hopefully made everyone on here feel a little reassured they are not alone and others are experiencing similar symptoms. none of my friends or family suffer with these so it's very difficult to talk to them about it as they don't understand but it is nice to know I have this to fall back on when things get a bit too much...as I know I'm not going mad and other people do experience the same.

      Hey Emily!

Yes i honestly think periods play a big part in how bad i get them... about a week before and a week after they are my worst times and funnily enough my indigestion and bloating happen around then so i think it all ties in.

I have suffered with them around 13 years now on and off but seem to be really bad now after 2 episodes of Covid unfortunately.

I'm also taking Bisoprolol 2.5mg that don't seem to do anything either... my inbox is always open if you want to chat.

I don't find Bisoprolol does anything. I'm definitely finding the ones I get at night whilst trying to sleep alot worse. I can kind of cope with the day ones. it's just such a horrible feeling. 😪.

how old are you if you don't mind me asking? I've just turned 40, and I'm dreading menopause as I have a feeling they will get worse 🙃

i'm about to turn 39 i actually wonder if i could be peri menopause.

Have you tried any other medication?
