Electric/Energy surge to brain when trying to fall asleep.

Hi guys, I'm new to the site but glad I found somewhere to share my symptoms.

I'm getting a sort of electrical shock when trying to fall asleep. This electrical shock seems to be described on other sites as 'jumps' or 'zaps' or 'surges of energy'. It happens not when I'm sleeping but the moment I am about to fall asleep. Its like a sort of butterflies feeling in the stomach and then a rush/surge of energy to the brain which gives you a 'jump' and electrical feeling in the head and sometimes upper body. The more extreme they are sometimes produce a twitch in maybe the arm or leg. Its not painful but I guess is quite scary when it happens. These can happen numerous times a night.

Many friends/family I have spoken to say this is normal and they are familiar with the symptoms (I understand what they mean as it can be quite similar to when you suddenly wake from a bad dream) but mine seem to be a lot more often and extreme. I know my symptoms don't seem to be normal.

I've been having these for about 5-6 weeks now (some nights are worse than others) but generally its been more or less every night. This has turned into a vicious cycle because when you actually close your eyes at night to go to sleep you are actually waiting for the 'shock' to happen instead of trying to sleep. Obviously the less sleep you have, the less functional you are the next day and so on and so on. You then get sleep deprived which I believe also may trigger this.

The only other thing I can add to my symptoms is sometimes during the day I get a spaced out/empty/dizzy/cloudy feeling in the head (hard to explain). Sometimes this can turn into a sort of brain/head sensation where you feel you need to kind of 'shake it off'. Again, its hard to explain, something like if you have restless feet and you need to kick out of it but its in the head so you need to give yourself a shake to snap out of it.

I have read quite a bit about anxiety/stress and these symptoms may fall into this category but the issue I have with this, is that I have nothing to be anxious/stressful about! All is OK with job, money, house, relationship etc so I'm not sure how this all started. Could I be anxious about this illness? Again, a vicious cycle?

About me - I'm a fit and healthy 35 year old guy. I actually exercise quite a lot (go to gym/swim 4 times a week and have run numerous marathons over the past year). Although this fitness regime has stopped since I have started having these symptoms as I am feeling quite weak/tired due to not getting much sleep due to it. I have no major prior illnesses and I am not on any medication. I don't want to get in the habit of taking sleep medication.

I have been to the hospital and spent the night where they performed numerous blood tests/Heart ECG/X Rays/Urine and all came back OK. The only issue I had was slightly high blood pressure (but not high enough to be put on any medication). I have also been for an MRI scan and EEG epilepsy test. I will find the results with these in about 5 weeks time.

Anyway, that's my symptoms and hopefully someone might feel at ease that they are going through something similar.

Reading similar posts on the internet I don't think anyone has come to the conclusion on what in fact is causing these problems, even though a lot of the people actually been for tests and seen doctors. Has anyone experienced these issues?

Thanks guys, feel free to get in touch smile

Hi, I have exactly what GD10 have experiencing. I am glad to see I am not the only one. Mine started after I had a biopsy done and was put under for it. I am starting to wonder if it could be the anaesthesia that caused this event in our lives.

Hi.. my name is Nik, thank you very much for sharing the post .. and your experience

i m also suffering from the same symptoms which you have mentioned below

which are really very scary and frightening sensations

    I am 22 years old

I dont know how to deal with it..

I am having them from a month

For the first time when I had it

That time I was lying on the bed on my back and suddenly shock like vibrations circulated in my body with palpitation ,from my head into chest, along with feeling as if all the respiration and heart beating processes have been slowed down and are going to stop now

I was so scared and I was shouting please help me... and I was asuming that now I m gonna die now its over....

I was immediately taken to the hospital by my dad where the doctors checked me, measured blood pressure and and performed ECG

The blood pressure was normal but my heart rate was slightly lowered 55 bpm( beats per minute)

    From average value

Doctors told that ECG was slightly bad

So they admitted me in the hospital I was put on saline injected by B complex medicine and some other..one too...

After 3 to 4 hours I was again brought home

I shared this and showed reports to my family doctor he told that don't worry its normal i think its just because of anxiety but then also if you want, for your assurance you can have ultrasound of heart...

I also performed it and the reports were come out to be normal with mild MVP mitral valve prolapse and minimal MR mitral regurgitation

Doctor told that its in normal limits its ok.. there's no problem in your heart

Your sensations r just psychological ...

    Related to anxiety

After 1 week it it was again happening the same

When i was to sleep.. suddenly shock like vibrations were circulating in my body

When i was to close eyes this sudden shocks like vibrations were awaking me after every 5 to 10 seconds along with the chest pain or pain in heart

I'm really very irritated with all this incidences

So if you have found some medications or solution for it please tell me...

Hey, I've had this same symptom and have been tested for everything under the sun but can't get answers! Would anyone like to start a support group for this to talk about it and compare symptoms/diagnoses? Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy trying to describe this to others who don't understand it. If anyone is interested in this please text me at 712-730-1418 or reply to me on here!!

Just to give a summary of what my experience is, for me it's like sinking into an altered state where electricity, pressure, panic and flashing energy builds up in my brain, at first slowly and then suddenly. It can happen several times before I fall asleep. Sometimes it's accompanied by the sensation that I've stopped breathing or that I'm experiencing my final moment before death. Usually after the shock I have the impulse to open my eyelids as wide as I can and to make sure I can still breathe, though even after taking a few breaths I question whether I'm really breathing or not.  it takes a couple seconds after the jolt to become "present" in the room again, i.e. leave the altered state and be able to see my surroundings. For the first few seconds all I can see is a field of light around me/floating over me. I sometimes here voices or feel heat sensations but not always. And lastly, my legs sometimes twitch while leading up to it, or I make an involuntary vocal noise.

I'm sure a lot of you are reading this and thinking that's exactly what I'm experiencing, which is why I think we all need to connect for a better chance at getting answers! And also, it would just be nice to talk to someone about this who doesn't think I'm crazy 😜

I dont eat well, over weight by 25 lbs.    but. Very Stressed and  Always high energy .. this been happening since my 40s.  I had my first panic attack at early 30 s And not another until 59 thought I thought it was heart attacks ,had several and dizzy   2 Years now on anziaty meds.   No attacks ! But HATE taking meds !  I think diet and less stress would help, I may have Simething else going On too ..,  but  after 30 Years ..

I’m 90% this isn’t lyme, MS, or any of the other things most on this thread have already been tested for. I also don’t think it’s purely anxiety. It is certainly a physical symptom. I think this is a disorder of the brain or nervous system that’s not known to the world of medicine yet, which is why doctors have trouble diagnosing or detecting it. I have some theories on what all of us in this thread might have in common that’s causing this. I think we should get as many people as we can to fill out a survey on their symptoms, lifestyle, meds, etc. to figure out what this could be.

Also a Lyme specialist knows to treat anyway especially basing off the CD57 number..cuz depending on how long u have had lyme or a co infection of it..may not show up.

Hi Cody I am interested to hear your theories on this. Would you share them? I think mine was caused by anxiety/stress and they r now gone but I follow this thread still because they were such an unusual symptom that I wouldn’t be surprised if something else was involved too like vitamin deficiency.

Idk there’s just a few things I believe might be related but I’m not doctor. Some things i would like to poll people who have this symptom on are anxiety, unusual sleep scedules, pressure on the neck/unusual neck incline while or before sleeping, lung/throat problems, malnutrition, evening caffeine consumption, sleep apnea or narcolepsy, PTSD, somatization disorder, internet overuse, eye problems/light sensitivity, sertraline use, restless leg syndrome, eating disorders, confusing dreams for real life and vice versa, daytime numbness or paralysis, etc etc. But i have to figure out a way to gather all of us into a group to definitively determine what we might have in common. There are a few things i know just from reading this thread: most of us have some level of stress or anxiety, for most of us the symptom began around age 20, it doesn’s cause abnormalitites to show up on an MRI or EEG. I believe it may be the body’s response to a decreased heart rate/breathing rate brought on at the onset of sleep, combined with extreme hypnagogic hallucinations and a heightened sense of anxiety that trick our brains into interpereting this experience of falling asleep as death. I’m curious to know if anyone in this thread has had a sleep study done.

Did anybody have vaccines prior to these symptoms? Even several years before first symptoms. I had like 8 vaccines in 2013 before i travelled to Thailand. 2 years later came the first symptoms. I assume I have metal in my brain. It passed the blood brain barrier. Head met revealed demyelination and one Cyst. I do react elektrosensitive to elektrosmog. Please think about whether or not u were vaccinated and reply. Take care

Hi I had vaccines also for traveling to Thailand in 2015. I also had a mercury filing in my mouth removed about 6 months before mine started end of 2016.

Hi emma. Thank u for replying. Keep following this thread about vaccines here. Apparently it's something that triggered it. I'm almost convinced without any test being made that this is the cause of it. I will mention that i had a head met scan and during it I hand a panic attack although I had no issues in to going inside the machine bit it was triggered by magnetically fields by a certain frequency...u know I could tell because of the certain sound the machine was making....and u had head aches 3 weeks in a row...non stop after this scan...I didn't know until than what head aches are...so define caused by met. Demyelination and one small Cyst were present on my brain...keep following...I think we got it...I'm waiting for others to see this post and confirm having vaccines. It took a lot for me to come to this conclusion. I think the next step is to detox the mercury or have metal from the brain. Lyphoic acid will do that because it passes the blood brain barrier and binds the mercury....I have to do some research about theproper ways of doing that...it could also be dangerous if u don't do it properly. It will be a lot of yeast, Candida and fungus released once lyphoic acid binds mercury. If u find anything like a protocol please leave a link here. I whish u the best!

Hi Emma and Adrian, let's just remember that vaccines don't have mercury just as much as when you eat salt you're not eating sodium or chloride on their own or we don't drink hydrogen and oxygen.

Elements when they combine make compounds that are TOTALLY different from the original element. Also, combine is not the same as mix; if I mix nuts and raisins they're still each their own thing.

So if you were to ingest the elements in salt sepparately, you'd die faster than if you drink a bit of mercury. But they have combined to make NaCl, sodium chloride and then it's mostly fine and very tasty. In vaccines the compound called thiromesal has been combined with carbon, hydrogen, sodium oxygen and sulphur to make C9H9HgNaO2S, which is an antiseptic and antifungal agent that does not react with any of the chemistry in our bodies.

I've been doing self tests and I do 4 weeks without coffee and then back (also started exercising a lot); cutting the coffee has helped by like 95% and when I come back it is not immediate but slowly starts coming back.

Hi there. Thanks for replying. I do agree with u. Our body should be able to manage detoxifying these metals unless we have deficiency trough poor nutrition. The healthy cells need selenium and magnesium amount other nutrients. But if we deplete them through poor nutrition they start to bind to mercury which resembles a lot to magnesium for example. Aluminium particles and other have metals to which we are daily exposed to resemble a lot to important minerals that our body needs. So the cells mistakes these metals with the nutrients they actually need and bind to the instead of getting them out of the body trough urin or fleeces. And than u got have metal in ure body and the problems start. If we had a good nutrition our cells wouldn't be interested in binding these metals from the first place. But we are nutritional deficient. Further more some metals reach the brain trough Blood brain barrier which opens up for them through elektrosmog exposure. There are studies who reveal that the blood brain barrier is opened by high frequency elektrosmog ex: wireless devices, antennas, wireless home telephone..etc. I also happen to experience this on my own unfortunately. I slept with the wireless router beside my head for 3,5 years. Have metals like the soft tissue like fat but also myelin which covers the nerve connections in the brain the way the rubber cover from electrical cables covers the cables. And they stay there and in my opinion that causes these strange symptoms... especially when exposed to elektrosmog...not to mention that metals bind to fungus...they make a happy couple together...and most of us have an overgrowth of fungus especially Candida. But I do agree with u ... Everything would be just fine if we had a good quality nutrition so that our body could manage these toxins. Take care!
