I have had a endoscopy before and it was under sedation. I Vaguely remember the gagging but not much else, until I woke up and I lost all respect of how long I had been. Now reading about other people experience I am concern about being man handled if I get sedated again. I dont have a date for mine yet but I really really dont want it know what I have read

Boss, when I was in Southampton, I went for endoscopy without sedation as I didnt know what this experience would be like. It was a battle between brain and body all along. I went through it without any major issues but wasnt willing to try this again.

Recently, I moved back to India. ANother endoscopy. I wasnt willing to go through same experience all over again however messages here in this forum also scared me about using sedatives. I almost got panic attack as I didnt want to be in state of half sedated but unable to control what's happening... However, I finally went for sedation... Doctor was ready with the hose pipe ( whatever you call it techincally ) and other doctor injected ,though IV, a white fluid and held my hand fir few seconds.

    What happened next?

Well, I saw at dcotor still holding that hose pipe but instead of inserting it in my mouth he took it away. Nurse said it's done. I asked done what?  She said endoscopy is done. Another doctor who had sedated me asked whether I need to lie down and need oxygen. I gave a thought for a second and said that I would like to lie down for few minutes but no need of oxygen as I was feeling absolutely normal. Another 15 mins, I was sat outside hospital as if nothing had happened to me.

To Summarise: After sedation, I still do not know whether another endoscopy was performed on me. This is how smooth an experience one gets with sedatives.
