Everyday dizziness while walking, standing and feeling unbalanced on my feet.

I have dizziness everyday while walking, standing as well as feeling off balance, unsteady on my feet like I am gonna fall over. I have had my ears checked by an ENT doctor in 2014 and he said I had menieres disease so he treated it as that but medicine didn't help so went to another ENT doctor in 2015 who said I don't have menieres disease but have hearing loss in both ears and did a test on my vestibular function which he said was normal so he referred me to a neurologist and I went and had an MRI done which was normal as well. I have had blood work done in November last year and my white blood count was a little high but not concerning and everything else was normal....no diabetes. Also had a stress test done on heart and was normal. I am at my wits end with this cause I don't know what's going on. I plan to see an eye doctor soon. Oh and I was diagnosed with anxiety 4 months ago but this dizziness and off balance feeling has been going on for 2 years now. I am on blood pressure medicine too. don't know what else to do. Does anyone have these same symptons ?

    Hi all,

Just wanted to share a few diagnosis possibilities as I had the same problem and symptoms of vertigo, 24/7 off balance, dizziness for a few years.

I was diagnosed with vestibular migraine - there are many factors involved including food triggers. I suspect high salt and MSG content is a big trigger for me Some ENT docs do treat this, so you can get a consult. I also suspect that stress and anxiety was a contributing factor, so I was prescribed with low dosage 10mg anxiety meds, and i think they kicked in after a few months.

There are vision problems, however, that produce symptoms you would not immediately connect with your eyes. Headaches and bouts of dizziness may be diagnosed as vertigo or migraine, but is actually a binocular vision dysfunction, like vertical heterophoria (VH).

Other symptoms of VH may include:

Headaches (i.e., above the brow or temples)

    Dizziness, or Feeling “Off-Balance”

    Neck Strain

    Difficulty Learning/Concentrating

    Double Vision

Anxiety in Open Spaces or While Driving

    Visual Vertigo

    Poor Depth Perception

    Hi Michele

    How are you feeling now?

I am also undergoing same symptoms for last 2 yrs. Now I have approached new ENT and he says its anxiety and he prescribed a medicine for 1 month and I have to meet him again .

But intermittently I have fullness in ear. Anyhow waiting for next consultation.

Hello Chandra. I am doing okay. Still dealing with the same symptoms. The last doctor I went to was a neurologist and he said it was anxiety as well but I have a hard time believing anxiety could cause these everyday symptoms. What medicine did the doctor give you ? Is it working ?

      Hi Michele

Its Petril 0.5mg. once in a day.

Also he insisted to do vestibular exercises like neck rotation, eye rotation , ball throwing etc, daily and he will check my audiogram by end of this month and decide further.

so far I cannot confirm any improvement as such , but getting a sound sleep.. Waiting for next consultation.

Oh okay. I have never tried that medication. I take medicine for anxiety but it does not help much with the dizziness.

Thanks for the reply. I hope you overcame your dizziness issue. I one similar to yours tree years. I have seen many doctors but they have been unable to help me. Only one had the courage to tentatively diagnose me with VESTIBULAR MIGRAINE but her prescribed medicines did not help. I have consulted with an expert in dizziness at Northwestern University (Chicago). His report indicated that I suffer from three types of balance issues (vision, hearing, and nerve decay in the feet). I have gone through vestibular and optical therapy and that helped a bit. My dizziness level is lowered but still last for several hours day. I suffer from dizziness only while I am standing and always begin when I get up in the AM. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I will be most appreciative. Thank you. René
