Everyday dizziness while walking, standing and feeling unbalanced on my feet.

I have dizziness everyday while walking, standing as well as feeling off balance, unsteady on my feet like I am gonna fall over. I have had my ears checked by an ENT doctor in 2014 and he said I had menieres disease so he treated it as that but medicine didn't help so went to another ENT doctor in 2015 who said I don't have menieres disease but have hearing loss in both ears and did a test on my vestibular function which he said was normal so he referred me to a neurologist and I went and had an MRI done which was normal as well. I have had blood work done in November last year and my white blood count was a little high but not concerning and everything else was normal....no diabetes. Also had a stress test done on heart and was normal. I am at my wits end with this cause I don't know what's going on. I plan to see an eye doctor soon. Oh and I was diagnosed with anxiety 4 months ago but this dizziness and off balance feeling has been going on for 2 years now. I am on blood pressure medicine too. don't know what else to do. Does anyone have these same symptons ?

Hi. Sorry about what you have experienced. This is not a very good feeling. I actually have similar symptoms and am currently on medication. I have negative pressure in my left ear and this is the cause of the feeling.

Hey. Yeah these symptoms are debilitating to say the least. I have suffered so long with this that I am just thinking that I will never know what's causing it. I do have hearing loss in both ears. What medication do you take ?

Check your Thyroid function, In my case TSH was high, after taking medicine the symptoms drastically reduced

I had all the symptoms mentioned by different users here.

My symptoms from past 9 years

    1. Dizziness 24/7

    2. Lack of balance

    3. Unable to concentrate

    4. Gastric,constipation and chest disturbance

    5. continous mild head aches

    6. shortness in breath

    7. Not able to eat stomach full. Upon  eating some food, i used to feel heaviness

    8. Stress/tension/nervousness even for everything

    9. Sudden dizziness, visual disturbance while driving, walking which result in Panic/anxiety

I visited many specialists(neuro,ENT,Cardio,Eye) in past 8 years and spent so much of money just to identify the root cause. Every report was normal.

Common answer from doctors was STRESS and migraine. But i did not have any real stress.

I thought something wrong with my stomach which might be causing these problems, so i visited a gaestroenterologist(Veerendra sandur from Fortis bangalore).

Upon hearing all my problems patiently, he asked me to take Vitamon B12,D,CBL(not sure what it is) tests .

    B12--170 (deficient)

    D--11(Highly deficient).

Doctor prescribed me B12 Injections along with Vitamin tablets for 3 months. Also he did Endoscopy and biopsy in my stomach to check any problem with absorption in body, both were normal.

Within just one week after taking B12 injection(neuron forte) and other vitamin tablets i started feeling very comfortable. Its been 3 weeks since i started taking medication for these vitamins, i am almost 60% recovered.

So, please visit any doctor and ask for B12,D and blood examination before going for any other procedures.

Since i am very much relieved of my problems  after struggling for 9 years, i am putting a lengthy answer here.

U can reach me if need any info.

And just so I have tho so right, the tests were for; B12, D and CBL? And a blood test

Attaching my blood reports for ur ref.

My first symptoms started with Neck pain(left shoulder and neck) and left side head ache.

Initially i visited a neurologist, and undergone MRI brain,MRI cervical spine.

Both were normal, but doctor suspected SYNOVITIS in my neck, but that doesn't seems to be true.

Hi there, I just saw your post on Patient.info website about dizziness. I too, have hearing loss in both ears and suddenly got this dizziness you speak of. Did you find anything that was helpful since the time has passed? Praying you have some good news for me. Thanks!

I have suffered from periodic vertigo outbreaks, every 4-5 years. Hard to diagnose but most likely due to herpes simplex 1 type virus infection in my inner ear... I found out that antiviral remedies work well for me (better within one day!!!). More specifically: L-lysine (1,000 milligrams three times daily), echinacea tea, 1-3 raw garlic cloves/day, mushroom based immune boosting supplements.

If you google natural viral remedies (for herpes virus) you will find other options such as:   elderberry, calendula, astragalus and licorice root.

On the same note stay away from nuts, oats, coffee and chocolate ... (Again, perform a google search on what foods to avoid for herpes outbreaks)... Those foods indeed flared back up my vertigo when I thought I was better...

    Good luck all!

      Hi Lucia

Thx for your note on the herpes virus! I find that very interesting as I was told my vestibular issues were a result of a virus too but never knew WHAT VIRUS! This doesn't surprise me at all. I will take your advice and also look into natural remedies.

      Thx again! Feel well!

I also suffered with same symptoms for more than 10 years. same to you I also went to many doctors to check my sugar, blood pressure, heart checkup, etc. and all of them saw no problem. Until 2 years ago one doctor diagnosed me that I have panic disorder. The panic disorder make me feel dizzy 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So the doctor prescribed Sertraline for 6 months. The first two weeks of medication makes the thing worse. The doctor said that it is normal. So I made a research for the answer and I found out that it is because the medicing increases my serotonin level. So I suggest that you research about serotonin and you will found out that it is a life saver for anxious people. I already stop taking the medicine. My only advise is if you are a coffee drinker or cola drinker or any beverage contains caffeine please stop it. Instead of coffee, drink hot chocolate (dark chocolate), and eat food that contain cheese (eg. Pizza). Dark chocolate has a lot of serotonin.

Same to. For 3 years. No balance, unsteady, dizzieness, vertigo  (but no feeling of sickness) had a number of MRI’s + Dat scan and lumbar puncture (spinal tap) blood tests and nerve tests all come back clear? I had a contaminated flu jab 2 years ago and prescribed Tramadol (for a bad back) 3 years ago, felt bad ever since plus I constantly sneeze plus I have a runny nose. I’m onto my 4th Neurologist now who says I’ve got MSA?? (diagnosed without the other symptoms?) my GP dosent agree and has redirected me to another Neurologist. I know how you feel though, every step is like my shoes are made the shape of Toblerone‘s. I wonder if a flu virus cause balance issues?

Hi, I am 28 and have been suffering from imbalance for past 9 months. Earlier it was manageable but now it has become severe, suffering every day, minute . I have done Brain, Neck MRI, Audiometry, pressure tests. Consulted a GP, Neurologist, Cardiologist, ENT, Orthopaedic. Neurologist suggested vestibular rehabilitation exercises. Orthopaedic suggested i totally stop using smart phones. Cardiologist suspected labyrinthitis and referrefd to neurologist. ENT put me on 1 month medication and finally said I need to take injection in ear. I am too clueless as to why no doctor is able to diagnose the root cause. I am having mild hypertension and cervical spondylosis. please let me know if someone finds solution.

I had the same thing and finally went to the top doctor at UCLA. He said you don’t have any of the things other drs said you have. You have anxiety disorder. I couldn’t believe it, because I thought I had a tumor in my brain. I was so dizzy i couldn’t walk. My eyes took 2 seconds to catch up to whatever I was looking at. My neck and back hurt. My fingers tingled. The whole nine yards. Once I got my anxiety sorted out by doing CBT therapy it all went away. If no one can find anything wrong with you, then it’s more than likely anxiety disorder or panic disorder. Check out a book called Stop Panic. It was life changing for me. I know you want to believe it soemthing else as I did, but don’t rule out anxiety. It’s a serious symptom creating brain problem than can be cured.
