Excessive bleeding immediately after UFE. It’s the fourth week

Hi,
I had my UFE 4 weeks ago and started bleeding two days after it wasn't bad about 1-2 pads a day for 2 weeks . From then it has gotten to 4-5 super pads a day with clots passing . I've talked to my radiologist and she said it should go away in 4 weeks. Its passed 4 weeks. Still bleeding. Will see her again in a few days but has anyone experienced this? What is the solution? I fear I'll bleed to death if this goes on.

Dear Shivani, I did not bleed after my ufe but I experienced other issues. With the bleeding I would suggest to check your Hb. You may be getting low on iron ie aneamic. I am in week 9, still taking mild painkiller for the discomfort in my womb.
Wish you quick recovery. I have written about my experience on this forum but I can answer any qn about my experience.
Thanks

Cakmak, thank you for your reply. I actually saw your posts on this forum and it gave me some clarity. I am going back to see the Radiologist tomorrow and hope to get a clear answer. I did this procedure because I was too anemic to go through traditional hysterectomy. I feel 4 weeks of bleeding and then periods cycles staying heavy for several months will make my situation worse. I'm considering a hysterectomy for permanent relief.

De Shivani, I would also plan to see the gynea, the radiologist have not been very helpful once they perform the UFE.
Yes continuous bleeding sucks!
Hope you are taking something for your Iron.
Also ask your gynea about using tranexamic acid for the bleeding.
All the best with your healing Shivani.

Hi i have had that type of bleeding three day after my procedure for almost a month and a half it did stop eventually and i was told it was just old blood that the body was getting rid of. I was afraid when i saw that amount at first but it did slow and stop surprisingly it did not affect my blood count. So have faith it will stop you will be scared but its going to be okay

Jannelle, this makes me hopeful. How are your periods after? Thanks for posting this.

I'm sort of in the same boat, although my surgery was more invasive than a UFE.
I had a myomectomy in December to remove at least 23 fibroids. Fortunately, my surgeon was wonderful and he was able to save my uterus. Silly me, I thought my periods would be much better immediately thereafter.
I got my period approximately a month following the surgery. It was light--no big deal. Way better than I was used to dealing with. Then, I got it again two weeks later and OH, LORD. The bleeding was awful, kept leaking through my pad, etc. The doctor strongly urged me to go back on the birth control pill, which I did. The pill stopped the heavy flow, at least, but I've been bleeding for 3 weeks straight, now.
I went back to the doctor, who advised that: a.) After the amount of surgery I had, it's not unusual that my cycle is going haywire, and b.) It will take a while for the uterine lining to become thinner and for my cycle to even out and become lighter.
In the meantime, I'm taking iron, so I don't become anemic again (my hemoglobin had gone down to 9 prior to my surgery and I needed IV iron infusions).
