Excessive bleeding with nexplanon implant, what should I do?

I got my nexplanon implant last September, i had a small amount of bleeding for a few weeks afterwards, but this soon stopped and I was really happy with how I was getting on, I hadn't been getting any periods at all. I got my period then again in January for a few days, a heavy period, not just small staining like before. 2and a half weeks ago I got my period again, and have been having a heavy flow ever since. I'm beginning to feel really uncomfortable from this constant bleeding and totally drained and tired all the time. I know it's normal to bleed with the implant, but this seems like a bit too much? What should I do?

Iv had nexplanon 4 months and I have been bleeding now for month and half . It's none stop spotting. Should I take a birth control to stop the spotting. I'm having none stop cramping with this...

I got the implant 10 months ago. When I first started I didn’t bleed for two weeks and then was having heavy periods and spotting in between for 3 months. I got put on the combined pill for three months and was again on my period for two weeks, went back and got the combined pill again and the same has happened. Just been prescribed it again but wondering if it’s really worth it? I got it put in because I hate having to take the pill everyday but now I’m still doing the same thing and is making my boobs really sore. My doctor said she won’t prescribe me the pill again and to let my body work it out but I’m always having problems with anemia when I bleed for longer than a week. I’ve been told that it gets better after a year, is this true? Or should I just have it taken out?

My experience was the other way around. I went a year without a period and then the next year it came back. By the middle of the second year I had a period that was none stop. It would last for months at a time. I was tired at the time, I was mood and emotional, I gained a mass amount of weight. I took a birth control pill for 3 months towards the end and it didn't help me at all. I has so happy to get it removed and I moved on to the Mirena. So far so go with that at the moment.

Hi! I’m new and just created an account because this is exactly what I am wondering right now. I’ve had Nexplanon for probably 6-7 months now and I didn’t bleed when I first got it. I was so happy and it was great to be able to have sex anytime. But maybe a month later I started bleeding and it’s been all the time since then. Around when my period is supposed to come it does get heavier, which I understand, but I am constantly spotting or having bleeding even small drops. I called my doctors office about 3 months in, and they said it was completely normal and that I could bleed for up to a year on it. I discussed this with my boyfriend and we decided to just ride it out. But, it’s so miserable and I’m tired of constantly feeling “dirty” and bloated.

Also, I’m not sure if this is related, but I always bleed heavier after sex too.

So glad its just not me with this problem, i had the nexplanon inserted last September, at first i had some bleeding and then had a few months break with some small spotting now and again. In January my periods came back properly and since then i have had a 2 week break but have been bleeding everyday, some days heavy, some not and the heavy days i also have clotting.

I can see why they say its a good prevention to pregnancy, you cant have sex so wont get pregnant.

I am seriously thinking of having this removed and going back to condoms, im 48 so the chances of getting pregnant are low but i really have had enough of daily bleeding.

On a final note, i had the implanon inserted twice in previous years and never had any problems and thats why i decided to get the implant again, wish they hadn't changed it.

I got my Nexplanon in January of 2017.  At first it was great, I had a bit of spotting but periods were light and the spotting seemed to regulate.  However after I had it about a year, I suddenly started to get full, heavy periods every other week.  They are also getting longer and closer together.  I am going to the doctor in 2 weeks to see about whether it should be removed and whether I should get a new form of BC.

This is my 7th year on nexplannon. My period has always been irregular and I didn't mind it. This last period has lasted over a month and the flow is light but constant. I'm always tired, the cramping is getting worse and I've gained a little bit of weight. I'm a pretty active person so I'm a little worried that it's something serious like anemia or iron deficiency. I'm going to the the doctor this week for some blood tests. I'll post the results soon. If anyone else has this problem go get checked out.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing as far as the excessive bleeding. I have my implant inserted this past november, I had just gave birth to my daughter 2 days before I got the implant. They told me I may have some "breakthrough" bleeding around the time of my period, oksy, fair enough, whatever. So after that I bled for about 3 weeks, but that was postpartum bleeding so that I expected. I gave my daughter November 4th a d by thanksgiving I had stopped bleeding. Okay, so I went all of December with no spotting, no bleeding, then the beginning of January I had some very light spotting, it only lasted a few days, a week tops. Then, in the middle of January I had a LEEP procedure done to remove pre-cancerous cells off my cerivx, they told me I would probably bleed for a while after that, and I did. For about a month. Then, went maybe couple weeks without bleeding, then starting spotting again. I have been spotting/lightly bleeding 2-3 weeks out of a month since january. At first I thought it had something to do with the KEEP procedure making me bleed, but they said it would heal completely within 6 weeks, so I know it's done healed up. And I've spotted for a week or 2 straight every month since january. Now, I started spotting about 2 weeks ago, that went on for like a week and half, then I stopped for maybe a day, started spotting again. Then out of nowhere the day before yesterday I start bleeding like a full on period. Does anyone know why this could be making my body act this way? I don't know how much longer I can take bleeding constantly like this.

Hiya, I got my nexplanon in on the 9th Feb. It was fine at the start of that month then I randomly got spotting and have been bleeding for nearly 3 months straight now on and off spotting and heavy bleeding. I have contacted my doctor about it and she had said that it’s usually only a month the bleeding lasts for. I dunno what to do as I do not trust myself with the pill and this obviously isn’t working. It is kind of upsetting that you get it in hope your period will stop and you can actually do stuff without a worry but you’re constantly worrying and can’t do anything because you’re bleeding. I really don’t understand or know what to do at this point.

I posted in the thread my experience with the implant (constant bleeding so went on combined pill as well as) I got prescribed some more pills but decided not to take them and ride it out. I bled for about 2 and a half weeks and now I haven’t bled since! Can’t remeber how long it’s been, maybe a month? I don’t wanna jinx anything but it’s going well so far!
