Excessive Yawning and Constant Need to Breathe Deep

Posted , 480 users are following.

For the past few days, I've been yawning a lot, much more than average (once every few minutes I feel the need). If I'm not yawning I'm breathing in as deep as I can to get similar "satisfaction". Often I cannot get the "satisfaction" from these and so the urge grows and grows, meaning it can get quite uncomfortable. When I do manage it, the urge is back a few seconds later. This is whether I'm tired or not, almost all day.

I'm not particularly anxious about anything in particular, and get the same amount of sleep as before this started.

This also happened at some point within the past year which continued for a month or two if I remember correctly.

Does anyone have any idea what it is or how to make it a bit better?

Thanks.

Have you thought about taking a bigger dose of amitriptyline. In that study they recommended people go up to 75mg. I would be prepared to do anything and take anything to get rid of this! Another option is to email the doctor who wrote the paper and see if she's come across anyone who's had it as long as you. I just googled her name and the hospital she works at -which is on the paper - and found her email address. I'm sure I'm not allowed to post it here. It's worth a try - I'm sure she'd appreciate someone reading her papers!! She's a respiratory specialist and has written over 80 papers. Anything's worth a try. She works at the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals. Always good to think outside the square and go directly to the source!!!

HAS ANYONE FOUND ANYTHING ABOUT THIS SHORTNESS OF BREATH ISSUE? IT IS TRULY DEPRESSING TO READ ABOUT ALL THESE ISSUES AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. IS THERE ANY SUCCESS STORY OUT THERE FROM SOMEONE THAT HAD SUFFERED PANIC ATTACKS THAT HAS GOTTEN THERE BREATHING BACK TO NORMAL?

one person started treatments on amitriptyline and had success. I as well as many others have started the treatments and my breathing has improved greatly. Also i have horrible panic attacks and as long as im taking the amitriptyline im fine. i forgot to take it for 2 days and sure enough the breathing issue started back up again and the panic attacks started again. i am in 25 mg of amitriptyline which is a very small dose but it works!
