Excessive Yawning and Constant Need to Breathe Deep
Posted , 480 users are following.
For the past few days, I've been yawning a lot, much more than average (once every few minutes I feel the need). If I'm not yawning I'm breathing in as deep as I can to get similar "satisfaction". Often I cannot get the "satisfaction" from these and so the urge grows and grows, meaning it can get quite uncomfortable. When I do manage it, the urge is back a few seconds later. This is whether I'm tired or not, almost all day.
I'm not particularly anxious about anything in particular, and get the same amount of sleep as before this started.
This also happened at some point within the past year which continued for a month or two if I remember correctly.
Does anyone have any idea what it is or how to make it a bit better?
Thanks.

So, I would like to give you my feedback since I have experienced Shortness of Breath for years. I'll try to make this short.
For over 10 years I have had difficulty breathing, feeling like I could never catch a good breath, gasping sometimes for air. 6 years ago, I went to a Nose doctor and they told me my septum was extremely deviated. I had surgery and fixed the problem. For a while it felt better, but than it came back. Since it wasn't something that would stop me from doing day to day activities I didn't care too much and lived with it. Then 2 years ago, I was feeling horrible, but living in New England in the Spring I was immediately told by my doctor I had Asthma (even tho I tested negative) and was using an inhaler for 6 months to no avail. I then had to do tons of work, pulmonary work, allergy tests, asthma testing again, blood work etc.
Turns out I was extremelly anemic due to Celiac Disease. It was a huge surprise to me and my doctor that accidently found out I was positive for Celiac. After a year following a Gluten Free Diet I was able to get rid of my anemia and raise my Iron and Ferritin levels to a normal level. Thank God the breathing issue has passed. Once in a while I need to take a deeper breath, but at this point, I believe it's more like bad posture, stress, or even trying to re-educate myself how to breath (believe it or not). I hope this helps!

Nope, not the issue here. all blood work normal. PFTs normal, cardiac normal. They say anxiety but i never feel anxious or hyperventilate. I just dont know and either does anyone else. Nobody really gives a hoot because its not them..

for a week now i feel a chest tightening sensation and the need to yawn constantly. im 14 and heart problems dont run in the family but everytime i think about it being something serious i get a panic attack and my hands go numb and cold. my parents cant afford the doctors because we have no insurance but im worried it may be something bad. the feeling is constant and hasnt gone away for about a week

im sorry but you need to see a Dr your health is more important than a dr. bill. tell them to take you to the hospital when your hands and feet go numb. they will help try to figure something out.

Hi, I am a 20 year old female and was having the exact same symptoms as these. I had never had anything like this before. One day i just noticed out of the blue that i felt like someone was sitting on my chest and i could not get a deep breathe, I was also constantly yawning as well. The best way to describe it was that i felt like i was slowly suffocating. My mom is a nurse so we had an oxygen/pulse reader at home and i knew i was getting enough oxygen so that wasn't the problem. This went on for about a month, some days it was easier for me to breathe than others. When I'd tell my doctors they'd say maybe it is anxiety because all tests were coming back normal. I knew that this was not anxiety and that there was something wrong with my body. I started to feel like i was going crazy because no one knew what was wrong with me. I felt like we were constantly running into brick walls and would never find an answer. My mom decided to take me to an Allergy Doctor not really thinking anything of it. But after doing multiple breathing tests it turns out i had a 54% lung capacity out of 100%, a normal range for someone my age is 80%-100%. They also believe i may have something called POTS syndrome which may have no correlation, but maybe someone can relate. I am still on the road to figuring out everything health wise and getting back to how i felt before all of this. The biggest thing i learned through this is that you know your body best, if you feel like you are not getting answers keep looking. Don't let a doctor slap a crazy label on you and call it good.

I am experiencing this same issue with the constant urge to take a deep breath. It has been years since anyone has last commented on this thread but I was hoping maybe you could respond and let us know if you have found relief.

hey, I feel you man. It's f*****g horrible indeed. Things you can do: Exercise everyday doing cardio. Try having a glass of wine everyday at night, helps with opening your lungs. By any means should you smoke or be close to smoke. Meditate, if you pray, do that as well. Masturbate regularly. You need to bomb your heart, you need blood flow. Helped me out. Hope you get better.

yes im serious. do you have this problem? because you would know how how nerve-racking this can be. gasping for air while crying and not knowing what in the heck is wrong with you. and have people say it is only a mere "anxiety" problem, because they can relate but will never know how this actually feels like. how hopeless you become in search of something that is supposed to come so naturally to all of us. so Yes, I am serious. And if any of that I told can bring relief to people, I will stand by it, it may mixed a little and sounded a little weird but it helps me overcome this horrible problem

Yes. i am also suffering from same problem from past 5 years. But i see you are not serious at all while giving advice. First, you told yo do some cardio exercise. we cannot take normal breath at rest and struggle to get a satisfying breath even at rest and you are giving advice to do cardio exercise. cardio exercise can cause increase in symptoms upto 10 times.
Secondly, you told to drink wine everyday. And wine has so many side effects and can deteriorate our health.
Thirdly you told to masturbate everyday. a person who is struggling from breathing issues every second or minute of his life, for them masturbation will be the last think in their mind.
This all things shows that you are not serious at all and your advice is very harmful for people like us.

If it has been so easy to get cured this forum will be empty till now.
You are saying you have recovered from this problems?
I think, Either you have some different problem or may be you have very very mild symptom.
Good bye. Take care.
