Well my back pain has been with me for over 10 years. I injured it while I was working out in the gym. My PMR diagnosis came this year in September. And my thought was when I started the prednisone it would help my back too but it didn't. In fact my back has been in the worst condition it has ever been in. My rheumatologist says it's not connected to my PMR but my pain management doctor says it is and I think it is. But I don't believe my back pain started the PMR.

You know I have never heard of dry needling until I joined this group. I've never had this done. But I sent my doc an email about all the spasms my back is having and how it affects my life. So her office called me this morning to schedule another appointment to see her. What I think they're going to do is something they did before, they inject lidocaine into my facet joints. If the lidocaine helps to make it feel better then they go back in later on another day and inject botox in those same joints essentially killing off those nerves. It's a more long-term solution to the problem.

I had dry needling done about a year ago. Since then I've had one or two much less intense sessions, just targeting a specific spot. I would say the dry needling for me has been very effective and long-lasting and, moreover, injects no chemicals into me. I, on the other hand, have to do my part by keeping up with my exercises. I'd have to be in excruciating never-ending pain before agreeing to have my nerves numbed with an anesthetic or botulism. You are braver than me!

Hi Anhaga
What is dry needling. Are you talking about acupuncture? If so I've started back with acupuncture and it seems to be helping. We are working on my inflammation points.

Well I'm at the point where I am. Butt I have had the steroid injection in my back take all my pain away all of it. I got off the opiates I was happy as a lark for about 6 months. Then the injection wore off and I was ended up back on the opiates. I've gotten results with other injections but never completely cured the pain. I've never had the botox but I'm looking into that now. As much pain as I'm in, if I could cut my back out I think I would.

Has anybody heard of the Bowen Therapy method which was mentioned somewhere in another forum? Seemed like some people had some good results with that although I think it's one of those things that maybe helps some but not all. I'd love to get rid of my back pain too...just another debilitating thing but I am more of a worrier about some medical treatment than I used to be. But if I were ready to cut my back out, I think I'd go for whatever. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I've had many MRI. None recently but i have a long list of things wrong with my back
Some of them are of course DDD, spinal stenosis, bulging disc, arthritis in the facet joint.
Just to name a few. Right now my biggest problem is my facet joints. They are causing
my back to spasm. I tried depression but I could not stand being buckled down. I kept panicking
So we had to stop that treatment. He did decompression by another means but
It probably wasn't as good as the machines are. I also bought one of those inversion tables.
They do the same thing, that didn't work either. I could go on but you know the drill. As far
as you doing decompression, I would try to find a doctor that doesn't have package deals
Just in case you have a problem too. Or ask him to let you try it once before buying the package.
Thank you for asking about me. Have a great night.

Hi,I tried the Bowen Therapy, it's very gentle and a lot of people say it works well : I had to stop because of other issues found. But I will be going back to continue with Bowen for my lower back : Cheers
